The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is concerned about dozens of off the books unregulated marijuana growing facilities that could prove a health hazard to marijuana users in Maine. According to an unclassified memo from DHS, the illicit growers are operated by Asian Transnational Criminal Organizations. Additionally, Maine Sen. Susan Collins has sent a letter to the DOJ and U.S. Attorney for Maine urging them to take action against the illegal growing operation.
