In this episode, Jay and Kelly recap the absolute drubbing of Orlando City by Atlanta United, a Josef Martinez rumor, talk World Cup (including the double feature PK shootouts between Spain/Russia, and Croatia/Denmark), tell Jeff Schultz of the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) where to stick his latest article about Atlanta’s major sports teams (with one team notably missing), preview the FC Dallas away match on July 4th, and spotlight their next watch party recording at Rocky Mountain Pizza on July 7th.
Jay and Kelly decide to drop by Pizziolo in Jay’s neighborhood of West Midtown for their Wednesday night $15 bottle of wine and pizza special (definitely Kelly’s idea). Join them for this impromptu podcast recorded during a Facebook Live stream as they recap the Atlanta United vs Portland match, the Pride/Unity tailgate and tifo, skewer the MLS All-Star ballot results, discuss Darlington Nagbe’s injury, the Eric Remedi transfer news, talk World Cup, the ATLUTD U-17’s, and more with a couple of listeners (Robyn Saghini, and Brandon Bowman) who stopped by to hang out — with Brandon even bringing a bottle of wine signed by Julien Gressel to go with the pizza and the broadcast! Pretty dope.
Check out this super packed episode recorded live from the 4th annual ATLSoccerCon at Ri Ra’s in tandem with the American Outlaw’s Atlanta Chapter’s World Cup Watch party in Atlanta where Jay and Kelly rehash the U.S. Open Cup loss to Chicago Fire, and enlist the help of a long list of fabulous guests to preview the Portland Timbers match on Unity/Pride day, World Cup takes, and to discuss this drug that is Atlanta United soccer. This episode is a compilation of some of our favorite moments from the very first Soccer in the Streets Atlanta Champions League 2018 (ATLCL2018) PODCASTATHON which was streamed live on the Atlanta United Fan TV YouTube channel and recorded on June 3, 2018. Atlanta United content creators ATLUTD Fan TV, Home Before Dark, Siempre United, Soccer Down Here, and Unrelegated joined forces for this epic day of banter, interviews with celebrity guests, and more. Don’t miss out on this first of a kind podcast recording and to hear the following segments, in order:
1. Intro w/ Jason Longshore (Soccer Down Here & ATLUTD + ATLUTD2 Color Analyst for 92.9 The Game),
Unrelegated is excited to unveil this first episode in a unique and adventerous story-telling series titled “Away Days”. In this first episode, Jay and Kelly are on opposite sides of the country on disparate adventures with Kelly in Los Angeles and Jay in New York City. Listen in to hear this story-telling podcast filled with a behind the scenes look at Stub Hub Center as Kelly gets a VIP tour of the LA Galaxy’s home in addition to dishing out her long distance post-NYCFC match recap. Simultaneously, Jay spends his Away Days wandering NYC recording interviews with fellow traveling Atlanta United supporters before and after the NYCFC match, samples the sounds of the official ATLUTD away supporters section during the live match, gets to know some NYCFC supporters, and has an impromptu interview with an Unrelegated listener crashed by Kevin Egan (play by play announcer for Atlanta United on Fox Sports South, presenter on The XTRA on beIN Sports USA) and Dan Gargan (Atlanta United color analyst on Fox Sports South) in a surprise series of events after the NYCFC match.
A huge shout-out to our Away Days guests this episode, without whom none of this would have been possible. In order of appearance, thanks again to:

In this episode, Jay and Kelly venture down to Henry County High School in McDonough, GA to experience their first NPSL Atlanta derby between the Georgia Revolution and the Atlanta Silverbacks. Once they arrive, they get a taste of the press box life, interview Jordan Coker – Director of Marketing and Digital Media with the Atlanta Silverbacks, as well as Eric Morrison – Owner and General Manager of the Georgia Revolution, explore lower league culture, and recap a frustrating night of missed opportunities by Atlanta United as they drop 2 points against New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium in front of a crowd of 11 people. Plus, “CHRIST NUGGETS!”.
Welcome to the shit show! Atlanta gets New York Red Bullied by Geiger, Penso, and their bestie – Coach Marsch Hugs-refs-o-lot. Atlanta may have taken the L, but it’s Atlanta United who made the front page of the sports section in the Sunday edition of the New York Times, suckas! Tune into this episode to hear Jay and Kelly’s thoughts on shaving legs, Timber wood, VAR, leaving before the final whistle, and the Geiger-effect. Good luck with VAR AND Geiger, Russia! Ha!
In this episode, Jay and Kelly hit up Second Self Beer Company for the Terminus Legion watch party and hook up with Travis Irions, founder of the Atlanta Beer Bus to talk brewery tours and how local breweries integrate closely with Atlanta soccer culture. After that, Domer Donaldson, board member with Terminus Legion, hops on the mic to talk about “TL” — one of the first “official” Atlanta United FC supporters groups. Purple lineup graphics are reviewed, face palms are shared in “A Hint of Offsides”, and the Orlando hatred flows freely. Tune in to find out who — of all the amazing donors to the Unrelegated Soccer in the Streets Team for Clarkston FC — won some sweet prizes before hearing Kelly’s take on her favorite beer from Second Self, and more.
In this impromptu episode, Jay decides to roll solo at the last minute while Kelly is busy doing top secret things in the stadium — deciding to setup the podcast on top The Faction supporter group’s giant Heineken trailer ahead of the match at the Atlanta United FC vs. Sporting KC tailgate. What could possibly go wrong!? Jay convinces Calvin Lasister, a member of the Cauldron (a Sporting KC supporters group), to climb up and join him to talk about how both clubs are currently on top of their respective tables in MLS while on top of a trailer and enjoy a quick chat about the supporter culture in Kansas City. Then Jay tries to shoot his shot for a SECOND time with the Thonton brothers (Tom and Michael) after failing to successfully record their original interview at the All Stripes watch party, and thus never making it into Episode 02. Aaaand then… well… you’ll just have to listen to find out!
