Hey Coconuts, 

There were just so many things we wanted to talk about that we ended up talking about everything. Hopefully the time stamps will help here lol. As we bring Ramadan to a close and celebrate Eid we discussed how the month was for us overall, the few distractions that we had while fasting namely Neflix and the News. We talk about Seaspiracy, an eye opening documentary about the fishing industry ( which could be synonymous with a mafia ). We commented about Disney's movie Soul which was a very cute introspective film about being grateful. And finally for some light hearted comedy we watched Veep which was hilariously quite an accurate juxtaposition of what the US government is actually like. 

P.s: Since a lot of things happened during and after Eid we figured this needs a followup, so stay tuned for part 2.

MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU! 

It is official "Star Wars day" today and we hope the force is with you and keeping you all well! On this very special day for many worldwide and in a galaxy far, far away we are talking about some of our favorite things in Star Wars! Keep in mind that the journey of Star Wars spans 67 years, we did not talk about every single aspect. However, we talked about how Star Wars was an integral part of not only our childhood but our adult life too! 

PS. Meral is delirious. Anarkali is nowhere the be found! Saman loves Anakin!

Hey Coconuts,

This week we discuss Bollywood's Main Hoon Na, which was not only an instant hit when it first came out in 2004, but managed to continue being successful well into present day. This movie has everything, themes that are still very relevant to society, such as family, loyalty and most importantly love. The movie also revolves around the concept of mending the relationship between Pakistan and India which was awesome to see, and if that hasn't sold you to this movie maybe the insane action sequences that defy all laws of gravity will.  

P.S: Anarkali couldn't control her excitement throughout this recording, she's a huge Shahrukh Khan fan too.

Hey Coconuts,

We hope you enjoy our discussion on My Sister's Keeper and some of the ethical questions it raised. We loved this book! It opened doors for people to have conversations on very difficult topics such as parenting, emancipation and the cost of love. One of the conclusions we had was that morals do not necessarily always support ethics. In the case of Anna, it was ethical for her to be an organ donor to Kate, but morally it was wrong as it robbed Anna of a life and childhood. 

PS. We acknowledge we aren't mothers but we've learnt about different parenting styles from several mediums, to form an educated opinion! LOL. Anarkali played around with Saman's audio by placing her hand on the mic. We should talk to her and file for emancipation!

Ramadan Mubarak!! As you all can probably tell from our instagram page we are super excited for this month. Ramadan is a beautiful time of refection and reconnecting with your faith, whilst leaving some of the worldly distractions behind. In this episode we discuss what this month means to us and also give you guys an insight of our previous ramadan spent together in Pakistan. We also discuss the ups and downs of having a twitter account.

Hey Coconuts! 

In this installment we talk about WandaVision! We’re both avid fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! We use references from the movies and comics in our daily lives. Some of the things we really enjoyed that WandaVision did so brilliantly was display the different ways a person can grieve their loss, and how they come to accept their new life, and understand themselves better. Also the writers did a great job writing for vision, some of the statements he made were so profound that it takes more then one watch to appreciate them all. 

PS. Anarkali our lovely Podcast ghost didn’t make much of an appearance but Meral had a bit of a headache which is why it may sound like she’s got scrambled egg for brains! Also Meral meant to say Regina Mills from Once Upon a Time not Regina George.

Also It goes without saying that there are several spoilers!

In this instalment we go over the iconic novel written by Louisa May Alcott in the 1800s. Surprisingly though she managed to capture the trials of womanhood and coming of age so well, that the story still rings true in 2021. In this world we hear the tale of 4 sisters, each in her own way a strong and resilient. We learn about a mother or a matriarch who manages to keep her daughters motivated and humble throughout their lives. A story about brilliant little women. 

P.s  The personality Meral mentions is "Aamna Isani" from Something Haute.

We took a different turn in our tenth episode. It’s a little tribute to Pakistan in honor of Pakistan Day! We discuss the Resolution for Pakistan, the things we love about the work some citizens are doing, and our celebrity run ins. Obviously there’s so much more to say about the good that’s being worked towards and a lot to say on the negative aspects too. Even though everything has its pros and cons we’re more focused on the pros today. 

PS. Even though Anarkali didn’t make an appearance today. The Internet was not really a fan of us enjoying our podcast ghost-free time. So bear with us if it feels a little rushed? Hehe

So we decided to start off with something that is very near and dear to us, and that is the epidemic of body shamming, bullying, and perpetuating impossible narratives about what is considered beautiful. Research has shown that the percentage of young boys and girls, getting cosmetic procedures has sky rocketed, so in this episode we discuss the damaging role that social media, TV and movies play, and the lasting effects it can have, in the form of eating disorders and other mental health illnesses.

Through their work they have uplifted millions and millions of women. Madame CJ Walker was one of the first women to give employment to over 3000 women of colour.
