Richard comes from humble beginnings, growing up in an unfavourable environment Richard defied the odds and overcame many obstacles that would break the average person. At a young age, he found himself involved with the streets and joined a gang that became his family. However, one life-altering incident changed the trajectory of his life and took him from the streets to a hospital bed to the boxing ring. Throughout this episode, Richard will take you through the highs and lows of his life and the heart and dedication and sacrifices it took to be the undefeated champion boxer that he is today. Away from the ring, he started a company called "Enhancing minds" which focuses on talking to schoolchildren on positive thinking and the dangers of knife crime. In this week's episode of unscripted, we catch up with Speaker, Lawyer and Nationally Acclaimed Poet Iyanu Adebiyi. Iyanu wears her emotion on her sleeve. Her transparency through her poetry will not only empower you, but move you to seek what’s going on inside your own heart and mind. In 2017 her video entitled “I Am Something” won second place in the U.S Mission Nigeria Unity In Diversity Video Competition. Not bad for a country with 195.9 Million people! Iyanu was writing poetry early in the morning and night and fulfilling her obligations as a corporate lawyer in the daytime. However, she stepped away from the court room and dove straight into what she believes is her purpose is. Iyanu is extremely passionate, courageous and in tune with what is around her. Including the injustice that is happening in her home country of Nigeria, in this interview you get the sense of how her heart is tied with her country. In this week's episode of unscripted, we catch up with former Detroit Lions Running-back and 2016 Olympian Jahvid Best. Jahvid Excelled athletically from the moment he stepped on the track and football field in Highschool. After breaking a Bay Area record on the football field where he rushed for 3325 yards and 48 touchdowns, he took that same intensity on the track and ran 10.31 in 100m and 20.65 in the 200m making him one of the best in the state of California in two sports. Even after all that success, Jahvid was considered as an undersized running back and that gave him extra motivation for the next level. He attended California University at Berkeley where he picked up from where he left us. He is top 5 in almost every category in the school history books in his position and to this day holds the record for most rushing yards in a single game with 311 yards in the ground. In 2010 he was selected with the 30th pick by the Detroit lions. Though Jahvid showed signs of explosiveness, speed and duel threat capabilities his career came to a close when he suffered one too many concussions. In 2012 he suffered a concussion that forced him to step away from the game. In 2015 he decided to step back on the track and a year later found himself representing St. Lucia at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games after winning a qualifying time of 10.16m which is the St. Lucian record. After retiring from sport Jahvid now spends time mentoring the youth through his foundation (The Jahvid best foundation) creating music, and serves as coach helping the next up and coming football players looking to get their shot at the NFL.
