'Tis the season to remember that not too long ago, to cough and to sneeze could get you detained, and that just to step out of the house felt like a New Year everyday. Indeed, COVID gained traction in the last days of December 2019 —and the whole world ground to a stop, got sick, and chafed in symptoms at home, trembling and chasing its breath.
For the 2023 yearender of Unshocked, we turn our attention to nurses who fought the battle and helped turn the tide. It was a war back then, and the victors were eventually all of humanity.
In the hope that every day next year will be the most wonderful time of the year, may this yearender welcome 2024 with celebration and open arms.

There's a lot of talk today about "tribalism" and how it's making life so miserable for everybody — what with mere differences of opinion exploding into full-blown battles of verbal assault in the snap of a finger. Maybe it's about time we figured out what tribes really are, and what's the issue with them always seeming to be angry with one another.
Why don't we drop by Africa, where there are said to be hundreds of tribes, and try to find out what's the deal with them? Watch out—there'll be surprises. Are tribes really what you think they are?
Thanks to Francis K. Ashipaoloye, Dean of the Graduate School of the Lyceum University of the Philippines — Laguna ( https://lpulaguna.edu.ph/graduate-school/ ) for being our gracious and friendly guide through the shadows cast by misconceptions about the second largest continent on Earth.

A lot of people live with their parents—seriously!—and they include couples with children. Reggie from the Philippines, Nathan from Australia, and half-Filipino half-Vietnamese George Bonifacio make the case for choosing to stay with your elders. Opinions fall left and right on whether it's better to eventually bring frail Ma and Da to aged care facilities, or have the sons and daughters take charge. They also ask themselves: "When it's our time to turn grey, will I be staying at home, or at the nursing home?"
This is an episode for the ages—all ages.

Travel with us to India in this episode, where Reggie and Nathan dive deep into the Hindu veneration of cows with Father Jacob Gnalian. And by the way, do you have any beef with people who consume dog meat? We go into that issue, too!
We promise, this conversation will whet your appetite — for defending your convictions.
Thanks to Father Jacob Gnalian for being a most informative participant and patient guru. For anyone interested, Fr. Gnalian manages the Sandhi Ayurveda Clinic and Research Center, and you may reach it through: https://www.facebook.com/Sandhi-Ayurveda-1541582906084175/ .

On our first episode, we tackle the wild situation of having to go about your day without having to worry about whether there will be toilet paper in the restroom or not. Reggie and Nathan discuss the matter with our guest Ellen, with guidance from colorectal surgeon Dr. Carlo Cajucom MD of the Philippine Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery (PSCRS).
NOTE: We're still starting to get our feet wet so our audio is still improving with every episode.
