Debbie didn’t find cheerleading at 16. She found it at 38. And it changed everything.
In this episode, Debbie Barry, law firm office manager by day, Masters cheer captain by night, shares how saying “I’ll give it a go” on a girls’ holiday led her to a sisterhood, a stage, and a version of herself she didn’t even know existed.
What started as one Wednesday night training session, turned into eight years of stunts, competitions, glittered uniforms, and the kind of friendship that feels like therapy in trainers.
But this conversation goes far beyond cheerleading.
In this episode you'll learn:
This is a story about trust, courage and taking centre stage in your own life.
If you’ve ever felt like you lost yourself in supporting everyone else…
If there’s something you’ve quietly wanted to try…
If you’re ready to fly instead of stand on the sidelines…
This episode will show you why it’s not too late and may in fact be perfect timing.
Because sometimes midlife isn’t about starting over.
It’s about finally finding your wings to fly.

Virginia Anderson didn't see it coming. None of it.
She's 55 and two years ago she did something on a whim that she thought would be just another activity to add to the list. It wasn't.
What followed was unexpected, a little expensive, and in her own words, completely worth it. We talk about what it feels like to go from beginner to coach, to finally be in a room where you're not the only one, how confidence is built on wheels one session at a time, and why women in midlife are discovering that skating is so much more than just an activity.
In this episode you'll learn:
What started as curiosity grew into something far bigger than a hobby. This conversation reveals how roller skating after 40 became an unexpected gift.

What happens when something finds you — exactly when you need it most?
Sooraya Walker is a 46 year old mum of two. Two years ago, she spotted a poster on her way out of her children' gymnastics class. A free women's kickboxing session. That same evening. She went and hasn't stopped going since.
Now she trains weekly under a former European Champion and her instructor thinks she's ready to compete.
But this conversation goes way beyond fitness. Sooraya opens up about saying no to the things you want, trusting your instincts in minus six degrees in Oslo with nothing but a printed map, and why stillness and rest are just as powerful as any training session.
This is an episode about confidence built quietly, over time. About trying something new at an age when most people stop.
What you'll learn:
This is the episode that will make you stop waiting for the right time and realise you're already in it.

What happens when a fun runner decides the next challenge isn't about pushing harder, but about being gentler?
Casey Stewart Smith ran two London Marathons. Then perimenopause hit, and running became too much. So she made a radical choice to train for something that was more gentle on her body. She signed up to swim two miles in the Serpentine despite only ever swimming recreationally.
What started as a physical challenge became a lesson in self compassion, especially after receiving her ADHD diagnosis mid-journey.
In this episode you'll learn:
This one's for you if you're tired of fitness culture telling you to go harder, faster or stronger, if your brain works differently and standard training plans just don't fit, or if you just want permission to be kinder to yourself.
Casey's story proves you don't have to compete with yourself to achieve incredible things. Sometimes the bravest choice is softness.
