This episode we chat to Zach Carlson, a 24 year old paraplegic who shares his story of resilience and determination. We are so excited to continue following Zach's story through his most recent adventure of starting his very own designer label, 'z.james.c', a luxury streetwear brand. He truly is unstoppable.
'On the 26th of August I fell 10-15m instantly dislocating and shattering my T11 Vertebra, collapsing a lung and breaking several ribs. Two surgeries in two days and I’m lying in a bed with my life turned upside down with zero movement below my waist, just thinking about what my future will be like. It’s such a hard concept to accept, that something so unthinkable can happen to you. I’m lucky and incredibly grateful to even be alive after my fall. So for the last 13 weeks I’ve learnt how to live my life on my own again, giving my all to get back to my new normal. You only find out how strong you are until it’s your only option and today I’ve discharged from hospital with all my independence, and more importantly, a curiosity for just how far I can go in this life of mine. There were some bad days, but thankfully I’ve had my family by my side every day, and the support of everyone to help me overcome the hurdles which I am so thankful for. Life isn’t going to be easy from now on, but it won’t be impossible and it’s worth enjoying, and that’s all I need.' - Zach Carlson
