For Episode 20 of the UNSUNG podcast, Jocelin and Matt were joined by British songwriting & production duo LDN Noise at Abbey Road Studios.

Comprising Greg Bonnick and Hayden Chapman, the two met via a mutual friend, originally producing garage and UK electronic genres popular at the time. After digital downloads started to displace revenue generated from physical sales of vinyl and CDs, Greg's dance music label began to struggle financially. He pivoted out of making niche UK genres like Garage and 2-step and started studying songwriting and looking into producing more commercial music with Hayden.

They had a string of early successes working on music for UK chart-toppers like Cheryl Cole, Sugababes, and Tinie Tempah, while also working on more underground acts/genres like Skepta and Grime.

Then, around 2012, the UK music scene started to run thin on the ground; there weren't many acts to pitch songs for. The boys had landed a big track with Chris Brown that same year but struggled to get much music placed until their songwriter friend Andrew Jackson introduced them to a brand-new genre emerging from South Korea called K-pop. Returning from LA frustrated after a big writing trip, they decided to double down on this brand-new genre and quickly found success in K-pop, finding their broad musical taste and diverse musical ability a perfect fit for the multi-genre twists and turns found in K-pop's DNA.

Today, LDN Noise has written songs and produced music for some of the biggest acts in K-pop and the world, including: Chris Brown, Nick Jonas, Red Velvet, Exo, NCT Dream, NCT 127, Skepta, Enhypen, Twice, and many, many more.

For Episode 19 of the UNSUNG podcast, MixedByJocelin‬ and ‪Mirek Stiles were joined by Composer, Pianist & Producer Raphaëlle Thibaut at Kensaltown East studios in New York.

Raphaëlle is a composer, pianist & producer recently nominated as a Breakthrough Composer of the Year by the International Film Music Critics Association in 2025.

Enrolled in piano lessons from age 4, she spent the first 15 years of her life studying music, adoring the work of composers such as Ennio Morricone, Jerry Goldsmith, and Francois de Roubaix. After graduating from the Music Conservatory of Lille, France, in 2002, she went on to land a marketing position with Google. She left this role in 2015 after a life-changing experience at Abbey Road Studios, quitting her job the next day to immediately pursue her lifelong passion for music and film scoring.

Raphaëlle's first "I've Arrived" moment came in 2021 when she scored the Emmy Award-winning Disney+/National Geographic nature docuseries "Secrets of the Whales," produced by James Cameron. Since then, she's scored "Sea Lions of the Galapagos" (2025) for Disney+, co-composed "Heart of Invictus" (2023) for Netflix, "Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones & Harrison Ford" (2023) for Disney+, "Introducing, Selma Blair," 2021 for Discovery+ and "Mama’s Boy" (2022) for HBO, among many, many more.

In this episode, Raphaëlle discusses doing her first session at Abbey Road's Studio 2, visiting Abbey Road for the first time, and making the decision to leave her corporate job at Google to pursue music full-time. She recounts how she met Mirek, her journey learning the ropes of production and composition, and her first "I've Arrived" moment in the industry. The conversation then delves into pitching herself as a composer, the distinctions between writing music for trailers versus film scores, and her transition from one to the other. For Episode 17 of the UNSUNG podcast, MixedByJocelin and Mirek Stiles were joined by artist/DJ/Producer/Composer/Engineer BT in Los Angeles at Just For The Record Recording Studios.

BT is a GRAMMY-nominated electronic music composer, software developer, DJ, and film composer. He has produced, collaborated, and written with a variety of artists including: Armin van Buuren, David Bowie, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Depeche Mode, Tori Amos, NSYNC, Britney Spears, Tiësto, and many more. As a film composer, he has composed original scores for films such as 'The Fast and the Furious', 'Monster', and 'Go'.

Before enrolling at Berklee, BT took a short internship in a local studio. During his experiments chopping and splicing 1/4 inch tape after hours at the studio, he discovered a production technique he would later coin "stutter editing." Years later, in 2011, BT would release the Stutter Edit plugin with iZotope, based on BT's patented technique of real-time manipulation of digital audio. He would go on to develop more plugins including: BreakTweaker (iZotope), Phobos (Spitfire Audio), and more recently MicDrop (Soundlabs AI).

For Episode 15 of the UNSUNG podcast, ‪Mixed by Jocelin‬ and Matt Soczywko were joined by mixing & mastering engineer & founder of Schwabe Digital Ryan Schwabe at Kensaltown East studios in New York.

As an engineer, Ryan Schwabe has been nominated for 2x GRAMMYs and worked on multiple Gold and Platinum selling records along the way. After Ryan released his first artist project, he received lots of praise on the mixing and mastering of the project and clients began approaching him to help them mix and master their own projects. While building studios and teaching as a professor at Drexel University in Philadelphia, he continued mixing and mastering projects on the side, slowly building relationships with an eclectic network of clients across different genres. Some of those projects began getting acclaim, then in 2021 "Planet Mad" by Baauer that Ryan co-mixed was nominated for a GRAMMY. Ryan's second nomination came in 2023 for mixing and mastering "Adolescence" by BAYNK.

While mixing "Planet Mad" for Baauer, he became frustrated with the lengthy 4-hour-long process of running specific stems through his hardware rack, printing them, then having to re-import them back into the project at the same level. He figured there had to be a quicker, more efficient workaround, and after some homework and a lot of back and forth with a developer, Schwabe Digital's first plugin was born. After receiving praise on Gold Clip from other engineers, Ryan decided to release it and launched Schwabe Digital in June 2023.

For Episode 14 of the UNSUNG podcast, MixedByJocelin and Matt Soczywko were joined by one of the engineers of the moment and friend of the brand Teezio in Los Angeles at Just For The Record Recording Studios.

Teezio has been responsible for engineering and mixing some of the biggest R&B and Hip-hop hits in the world, collecting 50 platinum records and 2 GRAMMYs along the way. In 2016, he met Chris Brown and after proving himself in a tracking session became his main engineer, recording and mixing everything for Chris. In 2022, Teezio moved away from tracking, pivoting to just mixing. His other credits include Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, Eric Bellinger, DaniLeigh, and more.

In this episode, Teezio talks about how he transitioned out of recording and into just being a mixing engineer, mixing "First Class" by Jack Harlow and "Industry Baby" by Lil Nas X, serving the artist's vision for the mix, using the demo as a guide, his opinions on reference tracks, artists wanting to sound like other artists, communicating with clients on technical details and speaking to them honestly, building confidence as a new engineer, his first session with Chris Brown, guiding the artist through the recording process, building long-term trust and relationships, making recommendations on production/arrangement choices as the engineer, what gets him excited to work on something, what makes great songs, his team and setup, mixing and delivering for Dolby Atmos, working with Amira Elfeky, and his approach to mixing rock music, the problem with live instrument recordings, recording equipment, and closes out with some advice for aspiring engineers.
