it’s been a while so I can’t even be sure about where this was but I’ve been thinking through videos from 2014 and 15. A lot has happened since then and it almost feels like a different world.

The reason for going through all this footage is that I am putting together a second music video. In the meantime though, I am living day to day filled with nostalgia because of these short clips.

I won’t share all of the clips that have other people but I’ll share as much as I can! Most of these were filmed in Xiamen where I stayed for about 3 years on and off.

The one thing that never gets boring in Tokyo is all the random festivals, street performances and events. When you stay here long enough, they start to feel less exciting but then one will really grip you. This modern butoh performance was refreshing.

Traditional Butoh tends to be gloomier and creepy. I don’t know if you find this creepy but I think he is rocking it!

Culture isn’t just something static that we inherit from our ancestors. It’s a living breathing relationship between people and how we live our lives. History, tradition, nationality, and faith only provide a starting point.

Some people decide to continue a tradition. Some choose to abandon it. Others decide to adjust it to reflect their personal values and invite new participants.

These friends decided to continue dancing and drinking with strangers at the station after the Sumida Kawachi Ondo festival finished. This is what I love about Tokyo.
