Unwell Women - Part 2: Laura Reynolds with Dr Elinor Cleghorn

In this episode in English, Laura continues her riveting conversation with Elinor. They discuss: the language used in medicine, the communication of pain, active listening and the importance of health care professionals introducing themselves – the #hellomynameis… campaign.

Dr. Elinor Cleghorn is a feminist cultural historian. Her writing has been published in Vogue, New Scientist, BBC Science Focus, History Extra, and the Wall Street Journal, and she has discussed her research live on BBC Woman’s Hour, Radio 5 Live, and NPR, as well as appearing on numerous podcasts. Elinor’s first book ‘Unwell Women: A Journey through Medicine and Myth in a Man-Made World’ was published in June 2021 in the UK and the US, and is currently being translated into 10 languages.

A German language version is available: „Die kranke Frau: Wie Sexismus, Mythen und Fehldiagnosen die Medizin bis heute beeinflussen.“

This book is an absolute must read for all health care professionals!
