  • From Silent Struggles to a Bold Voice: Turning Pain Into Perseverance

Behind the smile, the achievements, and the public image, many people are fighting battles that nobody sees.

In this powerful episode of Unwrapped With Gift, Gift sits down with Noah May, journalist, podcaster, Auburn University graduate, and mental health advocate, for an honest conversation about depression, anxiety, self-worth, isolation, perseverance, and finding the courage to speak.

Noah opens up about experiencing mental health struggles from a young age, feeling like an outsider, reaching some of the darkest moments of his life, and ultimately discovering that the struggles he once wanted to hide could become part of his purpose.

Together, Gift and Noah explore what it means to move from silence to self-expression, how podcasting and journalism became outlets for his voice, and why mental health should never be allowed to define a person's entire identity.

They also discuss practical ways to support someone who may be struggling, the importance of asking for help, overcoming feelings of inadequacy, and turning painful experiences into opportunities to encourage others.

At the heart of Noah's story is a powerful message:

“Once a fighter, always a fighter.”

This episode is a reminder that your current struggle does not have to become the final chapter of your story. You can heal, grow, find your voice, and use what you've survived to help someone else feel less alone.

🎙️ Listen to Unwrapped With Gift for an inspiring conversation about mental health, resilience, purpose, and the courage to keep fighting.

  • Can AI Help Us Discover the Truth? AIDOP, Enlightened Populism, and the Future of Democracy

What happens when we invite artificial intelligence to challenge our beliefs instead of simply giving us answers?

In this thought-provoking episode of Unwrapped With Gift, Gift sits down with independent philosopher and author Mohamed Nabil for a deep conversation about artificial intelligence, philosophy, democracy, truth, social justice, and the future of humanity.

Mohamed introduces us to AIDOP — AI Debates on One’s Publications, an approach that encourages authors to expose their ideas to AI-driven criticism and public scrutiny. He also shares his concept of Enlightened Populism, which challenges both blind elitism and uninformed populism by encouraging people to question, investigate, and think independently.

The conversation goes even further as Mohamed discusses direct democracy, citizen assemblies, global government, wealth inequality, human rights, internet access, critical thinking, and the growing influence of AI on society.

We explore an important question: In a world filled with misinformation, political polarization, algorithms, and AI-generated content, how do we know what is actually true?

This episode challenges us to look beyond easy answers, question our assumptions, and become more intentional about how we form our beliefs.

Tune in to Unwrapped With Gift for a conversation designed to make you think, question, and see the future from a different perspective.

  • When Trust Is Broken: Healing from Betrayal, Addiction & Finding Yourself Again

What happens when the person you trust most becomes the source of your deepest pain?

In this powerful episode of Unwrapped With Gift, Gift sits down with Roxanna Johnson — author, speaker, and advocate for women healing from betrayal trauma for an honest conversation about the hidden impact of sexual addiction, broken trust, secrecy, and betrayal within relationships.

Roxanna shares insights from her personal journey and discusses what happens emotionally when a spouse discovers a reality they never knew existed. Together, they explore betrayal trauma, shame, isolation, boundaries, forgiveness, rebuilding trust, faith, and the difficult decision of whether to stay or leave.

Roxanna also explains concepts such as detaching with love, the drama triangle, reframing negative thoughts, and why surrender doesn't mean giving up.

Most importantly, this conversation reminds women that someone else's choices do not determine their worth and that even after profound betrayal, it is possible to heal, rediscover yourself, and find hope again.

  • Love Isn’t Luck, It’s Alignment — with Jena Jake

Why do we sometimes keep choosing the wrong people, even when we know better?

In this powerful episode of Unwrapped With Gift, Gift sits down with Jena Jake, a therapist-trained empowerment coach and Compatibility Strategist, for an honest conversation about love, attraction, boundaries, self-trust, and the patterns that influence who we choose.

Jena challenges the popular idea that successful relationships are simply a matter of chemistry or luck. Through her Love Smarter framework and philosophy of Compatibility Over Chemistry, she helps women understand why the wrong person can feel so right and how familiarity can sometimes be mistaken for genuine compatibility.

    Together, Gift and Jena explore:

    - Why intelligent, successful women can still struggle in romantic relationships

    - How our relationship patterns influence who we're attracted to

    - Why familiarity can feel like chemistry

    - The difference between chemistry and true compatibility

    - How anxiety and uncertainty can sometimes be mistaken for attraction

    - What it means to become “the chooser instead of the one auditioning”

    - Why boundaries are essential not selfish

    - How people-pleasing can disguise itself as love

    - Rebuilding self-trust after unhealthy relationships

    - Emotional and financial dependence in relationships

    - How to recognize whether a relationship is genuinely aligned

    - What single women can work on before choosing their next partner

Jena also shares personal lessons from seasons of major change, including the end of her marriage and the loss of a business she had built with her former partner.

This conversation is for anyone who has ever questioned their choices in love, ignored their intuition, struggled with boundaries, or wondered whether something was wrong with them because their relationships kept ending in heartbreak.

The truth may be much more empowering:

You are not bad at love. You may simply be repeating a pattern you haven't learned to recognize yet.

    As Jena reminds us:

    “Love isn't luck. It's alignment.”

  • One Last Hit: From Addiction and Rock Bottom to Recovery, Purpose & Redemption

What happens when addiction takes everything and how do you find your way back?

In this powerful episode of Unwrapped With Gift, Gift sits down with Austin Rampt, author of One Last Hit, recovery advocate, speaker, entrepreneur, husband, father, and host of the One Last Hit Podcast.

Austin’s story is one of extraordinary highs and devastating lows. Once a baseball All-Star and scholarship student, his life was eventually consumed by addiction, including years of crack and IV heroin use, multiple attempts at rehabilitation, jail, a heart attack at just 21, and an eighteen-month chapter in Mexico that placed him in an extremely dangerous environment.

But this conversation goes far beyond the story of addiction.

Austin opens up about shame, identity, consequences, family, relapse, recovery, human connection, and the difficult process of rebuilding a life after losing almost everything.

Together, Gift and Austin explore why addiction is rarely as simple as “just stop,” why connection can be more powerful than willpower alone, how trust can be rebuilt after devastating consequences, and what it truly means to recover not just from substances, but into a meaningful life.

Austin also shares a message for those who are still struggling and for families watching someone they love battle addiction.

This is a conversation about rock bottom, resilience, redemption, and the belief that your worst chapter does not have to be your final chapter.

  • Inside USAID: Foreign Aid, Global Change, and the Fight to Help the World

What really happens behind the scenes of international development and foreign aid?

In this powerful episode of Unwrapped With Gift, Gift sits down with Clifford Brown, a former USAID Mission Director who spent 27 years working in international development across Latin America, Central Asia, and Africa.

From leaving a successful career as a commercial lawyer in Beverly Hills to working in countries facing political instability, corruption, humanitarian crises, drug trafficking, and human trafficking, Clifford shares firsthand experiences from a remarkable career in foreign assistance.

Together, Gift and Clifford explore the realities behind USAID's work—from strengthening economies and creating industries to supporting democracy, combating trafficking, addressing extremism, and helping communities find alternatives to the illegal drug trade.

Clifford also opens up about some of the most extraordinary and personal experiences of his career, including political upheaval, corruption, bride kidnapping in Kyrgyzstan, and the abduction of his own wife.

The conversation takes an even deeper turn as they discuss the controversial dismantling of USAID in 2025, the agency's successes and failures, whether foreign aid truly works, and what the world may lose when decades of development expertise disappear.

Drawing from his book, Inside USAID: An Odyssey of Foreign Assistance, Clifford offers a rare inside perspective on the bureaucracy, challenges, contradictions, achievements, and human stories behind American foreign assistance.

    This episode raises important questions:

Does foreign aid really work? Can democracy be built from outside? Why does poverty make illegal economies so difficult to overcome? What should the future of international development look like? And how can the world help without creating dependency?

Join Gift and Clifford Brown for a thought-provoking conversation about foreign aid, global development, government, corruption, democracy, human resilience, and America's role in a changing world.

USAID deliberately restricted itself from translating parts of the Koran that forbid suicide (let alone suicide bombing) because of first amendment concerns that this would involve "excessive entanglement" of government with religion. Brown fought this purely internal legal decision (he called it "preemptive capitulation") for over twenty years. It is considered legal to use US government funding to shoot someone but not to try to correct their mistaken understanding of their own faith. The war on terrorism means we are already entangled; the question is "How do we best get unentangled?.

This is only one of many topics relating to US foreign aid which are discussed in the substack at the following link which can also be found at the top of his webpage: https://cliffordbrown.substack.com

Other topics include bride-kidnapping in Central Asia, the failure of our counter-drug work overseas, the need to promote democracy and improve governance in host nations, and several possible technological innovations that could improve life in the third world.
