CW: Racism and Whyt Supremacy
A reminder to themselves and you, the listeners, of what this podcast is all about. Maggie and Cori had very specific goals when it came to starting a passion project. They have reassessed their mission, vision, and values and want to always be transparent about the process. Their vision is more complex and perhaps more vulnerable than they initially presented.
When so many folks do not carve out joy in their busy lives, hosts Cori and Maggie thought they would reflect on things that bring them joy. They veer off track a little as they reminisce about things that were perhaps more joyful in theory? As usual, laughs ensue and the focus of joy in the present returns, in this upbeat episode.
The hosts discuss life-long struggles with people-pleasing. Maggie realized that the more she trusts herself and her feelings, the easier it is to stop putting other's feelings before her own. De-programming, boundaries, angels, and saying what you mean are among the layers in this insightful discussion. Take notes on this one.
CW: Homophobia, Transphobia, Oppression, Repression. Cori is done with anti-gayness and the old standard of "the strong male" image. (She also does a bit of fan-girling about Lil Nas X) Brilliant fashion and performances were a-plenty as New York Fashion Week, MTV's VMA's, and the Met Gala were recently back-to-back. Some folks were clutching their pearls 'til they broke! The ladies discuss what it is that lies beneath homophobia, transphobia, and perhaps why folks get so fired up about LGBTQIA+ expression. Spoiler alert: It isn't because there's an attack on old-fashioned straightness!
CW: Diet-Culture, Disordered Eating, White Supremacy, and Racism. The hosts discuss the first of many topics on a collective laundry list of things they are just DONE with. For Maggie, diet and workout troubles have taken too much time and power from her life and she's getting it back by rejecting what others think about her body. The ladies talk genetics, self-love, and the movement to change the images of bodies that we're fed via the media. Resisting societal norms makes some folks very uncomfortable and Cori and Maggie are both here for it.
Content Warning: This episode includes themes of racism and childhood trauma. Explicit language.
Hosts, Cori and Maggie, reflect on past events when they wish they had said something different, better, or anything at all! They ask themselves, "What keeps us from being true to ourselves to just say wtf we mean to say?!". Sometimes, the root of the problem feels easier to get to than the solution.
Content Warning: This episode includes themes of racism. Some language.
In the kick off episode, get a glimpse into the hearts and minds of hosts, Cori and Maggie. After over 25 years of friendship, the timeline includes many bright and bizarre highlights but more than a few low points too.
