The issue of modesty has become controversial.  Every time a new fashion craze hits, Christians debate whether they should be able to wear something more revealing or cover up.  This Saturday on Up for Debate, Julie Roys will discuss the issue of modesty.  Joining her will be a Christian leader who believes modesty highlights women’s value in Christ -- and another who believes modesty is often code for shaming women.  

The Boy Scouts are allowing gay adult leaders and transgender scouts.  Meanwhile, the Girls Scouts are passing out sex-ed literature by Planned Parenthood.  This Saturday on Up for Debate, Julie Roys will discuss whether churches should cut ties with these long-standing all-American groups. Joining her will be Ted Spangenberg, President of the Association of Baptists for Scouting who believes churches should continue their affiliation with scouts -- and Patti Garibay, Founder of American Heritage Girls, which is an alternative to the Girl Scouts. 

Should Christians use the language of white privilege to address racial injustice – or does focusing on white privilege simply divide?  This Saturday, on Up For Debate, Julie Roys will explore this issue with Lisa Sharon Harper, who believes discussing white privilege is crucial – and Deidra Riggs, who believes the term is unhelpful.

Should Christians follow the so-called Graham Rule – and avoid spending time alone with someone other than their spouse?  Vice President Mike Pence recently sparked controversy when he divulged that he follows the rule.  And this Saturday on Up For Debate, Julie Roys will discuss the issue with both critics and supporters.  Joining her will be Jon Micah Sumrall, lead singer for the band Kutless, who follows the Graham Rule – and author Wendy Alsup who argues that the rule is sexist.
