Up On The Edge with Al & Owen

Marty Jones was born on the 13th December 1953 in Oldham, Lancashire and knew from the age of six years old that he wanted to be a professional wrestler. Little did Marty know at this time however, just what he would go on to achieve in the wrestling business and the legacy that he would leave behind him. He made his wrestling debut in 1972 as an 18-year-old. He won his first singles championship on 12 November 1976 when he defeated "Rollerball" Mark Rocco for the British Light Heavyweight Championship. This was to be the start of a long and heated feud with Rocco, whom Jones also defeated for his British Heavy-Middleweight title only to immediately vacate the belt due to already holding a heavier British title. Marty Jones has a heart as big as a lion and wears it proudly on his sleeve. He is a serial fundraiser for numerous charities and always champions local sports, clubs, people and businesses. He has recently suffered from a string of injuries, dating back to his professional wrestling career, but has recently undergone ground breaking treatment to try and alleviate the discomfort. She is fortunate to do what she loves and in a unique way, Kate brings their brand to life!

She was also the news reporter on 96.2 The Revolution and as such, had to put up with whatever stupidity Al decided to throw at her, at stupid o'clock in the mornings! Al believes that Kate has "the most amazing female voice on the planet" and now has a restraining order against him, forbidding him to go within 400m of her. It's official, Al's been around quite a bit, as Owen is about to find out. The lads are joined by singer and entertainer Graham Wheeler, who Al has played in bands with for more years than he cares to remember. They have played in venue's the length and breadth of Oldham together... ;) and even once did a tour of Tameside before being paid off. 

Graham is famous for being not only the first person to walk off The X Factor away from Simon Cowell, but he did it twice... two years on the trot! Hear all the finer details, as they all catch up together...

Actor, singer and musician Stuart Wolfenden is the subject of the Podcast this week!

Although people know Stuart through the many parts he's played in his acting career (Dead Mans Shoes, Coronation Street, The Virtues and Hollyoaks to name just a few) he's been singing and recording since the early days. He released his first single Too Many People, given to him by Russ Ballard, way back in 1992.

Stuart talks about his time at school, his acting career and of course his music, the most recent of which was recorded at the Gracieland Studio in Rochdale, owned and run by none other than Lisa Stansfield.

Forget that he owns his own restaurants, don't even bother about him being crowned Masterchef Champion 2015, you know someone has hit the big time when they get their own Wikipedia page! That's exactly what's happened to Oldham born and bred Simon Wood. He's also the best selling author of "At Home With Simon Wood - Fine Dining Made Simple" and he's also doing his bit for lockdown with #FeedingFamiliesFor30 showing us how we can eat really well each day for a week, for very little money. Add to that the fact that he is so down to Earth it's ridiculous, he's also very funny, he enjoys a glass of nice wine and he can hold his own in a conversation with Big Al & Owen. Slowly they were all getting more relaxed, due to the wine. So relaxed in fact, they had to cut the podcast into two episodes! "Hic!" This is going to be fun...
