Prospecting for new clients scares the hell out of most people thinking about beginning sales careers. I would say 99% of companies do not teach new salespeople how to prospect. Even people who have sales jobs really don't know how to prospect...so they "fake it until they make it" and hope they can make enough money through referrals.
