The situation in the Limpopo town of Malamulele is expected to return to normal by today. This comes after residents of the area called off their protest in demand of a separate municipality. The decision follows meetings between community structures led by the Malamulele Task Team and government officials. Bus operating company Piotrans says they have followed all the necessary legal procedures in dismissing the striking Rea Vaya Bus drivers. About 158 drivers have been notified of their dismissal after failing to appear for disciplinary hearings. Dismissed drivers have been given three days to appeal their dismissal.
