This Wednesday, SAfm anchor Sakina Kamwendo once again spoke to Anri Brink, Investment Strategist at Absa Investments, for the latest market update.

The two witnesses in the case against former Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya say they are suicidal, feel unsafe and live in constant fear. The statements of the 18-year-old whom Sibiya is accused of raping and the 16-year-old whom the State alleged he was sexually grooming, were read out in the Randburg Magistrates court. Sibiya is applying for bail. He faces multiple charges, including the alleged sexual grooming, rape, human trafficking and the contravention of the firearms control act. Defence Attorney Rishaad Moosa denied efforts to contact the witnesses. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC News reporter Heidi Giokos 

The Pharmaceutical Task Group is hosting a media roundtable today to discuss the growing threat of counterfeit and unregistered medicines in South Africa. The group says the meeting brings together regulators, law enforcement officials, healthcare professionals and industry leaders to examine the impact on public health. Police say Katlehong shooting suspect will appear tomorrow at Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court following the attack that killed four ANC Youth members, Meanwhile Deputy Police Minister Polly Boshielo says law enforcement officers will be deployed across provinces to monitor and prevent politically motivated killings ahead of November's Local Government Elections. This follows a mass shooting in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, in which ANC Youth League members were among the victims. Four people have died, while three others remain hospitalised. The victims were allegedly shot while returning from a memorial service at Mogobeng Primary School.

Civic rights organisation Lifeline in Pietermaritzburg has staged a protest outside Mbambangalo High School over allegations of sexual grooming and abuse involving a male teacher. The organisation says there are 11 cases against the teacher, who is also accused of pressuring learners to terminate pregnancies. Three girls reportedly have children with him, while another learner is still pregnant. The teacher is reportedly suspended. Lifeline says some matric learners have allegedly received threats. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Lifeline Executive Director in Pietermaritzburg, Sinikiwe Biyela.

This year's local government elections have attracted unlikely characters which are energising the political landscape. Unlike traditional politicians, these individuals originate from the cultural entertainment and business sectors amongst others. Over five hundred and forty political parties will be contesting the local government elections which are less than forty days away. SABC Senior politics reporter, Busi Bopela tracked down three of these these individuals, Ntsiki Mazwai, Rali Mampuele and Sello Mashula....

Civic movements in the North West have a history of taking on provincial and local government, on service delivery issues on behalf of residents. Some of these organisations have long served as watchdogs by holding local municipalities accountable. Some of them have now crossed the line into party politics, to take their grievances directly to council. Leaders of Baagi and Concerned Potchefstroom Residents, that have made the transition, say they were driven by persistent service delivery failures and requests for accountability that went unanswered. The EFF and the African Legal Professionals Association's lawyers have told the Western Cape High Court that the decision of the Section 89 Impeachment Committee, to rescind the recommendation of Adv Thandazani Madonsela as its evidence leader was irrational and has no basis in law. The EFF and ALPA have lodged an application challenging the decision. The Section 89 Impeachment Committee is opposing the legal challenge. Abongwe Kobokana reports....  

The former President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Joseph Kabila has joined forces with the M23 rebels to form a new political-military coalition known as the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation.
