The case against two men accused of killing five Seti family members at Bityi outside Mthatha in the Eastern Cape has been postponed to the seventh of November for formal bail application. 39 year old Mphumezi Ncambe-Dodobala and 22year old Lukhanyo Gam are facing five charges of murder two charges of attempted murder amongst other charges. The Home Affairs Department is again on the spotlight following recommendations of the Lubisi Report. A multi disciplinary task team on the implementation of the Lubisi report is today briefing by the Counter Corruption and Security Services on its work to deal with corruption within the Department of Home Affairs. The committee has urged the department to intensify the speed of this work while adhering to due process to ensure that employees are held accountable. The Judicial Conduct Committee has recommended a further probe on impeached Judge President, Dr John Hlophe's complaint against now retired former Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng. This stems from Hlophe's 2020 complaint against the former Chief Justice where the former alleged, among other things, that the former Chief Justice "conducted himself improperly and unlawfully in the manner in which he handled the complaint against him" by Deputy Judge President Patricia Goliath. Life Esidimeni families are staging a picket urging the the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to pursue criminal charges against the former Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu and the former Director of Mental Health in Gauteng, Dr. Makgabo Manamela for their roles in the Life Esidimeni tragedy. In 2016, 144 people with mental health problems died after they were moved from Life Esidimeni. In July, this year, Judge Mmonoa Teffo found that former Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu and mental health director Makgabo Manemela could be held criminally liable for the deaths of some of the 144 mental healthcare users. Mayor of Bushbuckridge local municipality in Mpumalanga, Lydia Moroane says this weekend's storms in the province has left a significant trail of destruction, structural damage, and many families who lost everything have been displaced.  Four people have died following the thunderstorm including a pupil who succumbed to fatal injuries when a roof of his home collapsed. The storm which was coupled by hail and strong winds damaged over five hundred houses and schools in the area, where walls collapsed and roofs of houses were blown.  Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter in Mpumalanga, Motsebi Wa Monareng

An investigation has been launched into allegations that corrupt correctional service officers, are giving unauthorised private hospital passes to wealthy prisoners in KwaZulu-Natal. It is alleged that these are prisoners serving time at the Durban Westville Prison and New Prison in Pietermaritzburg. International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Ronald Lamola is hosting his Ukrainian counterpart Minister Andrii Sybiha today.
