The over 400 mine workers at GoldOne mine in Springs, East of Johannesburg who failed to resurface last Thursday have started to come out from underground. It is alleged that the workers were held hostage by unknown individuals wearing baklavas, and with some showing signs of being assaulted. The workers have allegedly been held hostage by unknown individuals wearing baclavas with some displaying signs of being assaulted. The Limpopo Provincial Police have intercepted minibus taxis carrying over 100 undocumented foreign nationals from Zimbabwe heading to Polokwane. The vehicles were found to be overloaded with 73 underage children, women, and males. Last week, the Border Management Authority, announced that it had intercepted 42 buses carrying unaccompanied children from Zimbabwe at the Beitbridge border post in Musina. At least 400 hundred mineworkers are reported to have not re-surfaced at one of the Shafts of the GoldOne mine in Springs The GoldOne mine has been marred in recent weeks with a siatuation where some mineworkers want AMCU to be recognised as an official union alongside the National Union of Mineworkers. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to regional organiser for the National Union of Mineworkers, Victor Ngwane.

The Mpumalanga police launched a manhunt for three women, who allegedly gang-raped a 28 year old man in Kabokweni near White River.  The victim who is gay has opened a case of rape against the women of whom two are known to him.  The victim says he was called by the two women, who requested assistance to move a bed.  Upon entering the bedroom, the third women emerged from behind the door.  The police report that the three women overpowered the victim and allegedly gang raped him until the next morning. SABC reporter, Motsebi wa Monareng has more.

The Southern African Music Rights Organization (SAMRO) has commissioned a forensic investigation into allegations of irregular royalty claims by some members. The report confirmed that some members were fraudulently claiming royalties that did not belong to them. The investigation revealed weaknesses in SAMRO's internal controls and recommended remedial measures to mitigate future occurrences. The case has been handed over for investigation to the South African Police. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SAMRO chairperson, Nicholas Maweni.

Two suspects accused of trafficking fourteen undocumented children are expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrates Court today.  The suspects were arrested in Kimberley after they were seen travelling with the children - aged between six and fourteen - on a bus from Midrand in Johannesburg to Cape Town. The Hawks in the Northern Cape say the children had no additional clothes or bags on them. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC, reporter Margaret Mothibi.

The South African Defence Force has described allegations related to a torture squad operating within the force as mere fabrications. Chief of the SANDF, General Rhudzani Maphwanya has been addressing the media in Pretoria where he encouraged anyone with information to the contrary, to approach law enforcements agencies. General Maphwanya has been responding to a report by NGO, Open Secrets which details allegations of torture, kidnapping and murder within the force. Open Secrets also claims the squad is responsible for the murder of Hawks Investigator, Colonel  Frans Mathipa, who was shot in the head in August while investigating the SANDF. General Maphwanya maintains that all recent allegations about the SANDF are without merit.

The family of the two initiates who were shot dead together with their brother at an initiation school at Ngcwazi Village in the Eastern Cape, is calling on law enforcement agencies to act swiftly in apprehending the perpetrators.  The Busakwe family from Ngqamakwe is still in shock following the shooting of its family members.  Another Busakwe brother is in a stable condition in hospital. The Minister of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare in Zimbabwe, July Moyo has denied claims that 42 buses carrying 443 unaccompanied children under the age of eight were intercepted at the Beitbridge border post. The Minister says Zimbabwe authorities have no record of any buses being denied entry to South Africa or intercepted or handed over to Zimbabwe authorities. He was speaking in the Zimbabwe national parliament. This comes after Boarder management authority Commissioner Dr. Michael Masiapato, during a media briefing on Sunday, said the newly established BMA intercepted 443 children, under the age of 8, who were trafficked from Zimbabwe into South Africa and were intercepted by border patrollers on suspicion of human trafficking activities.
