A group of advocates has come out in support of Advocate Dali Mpofu following a strongly-worded opinion piece, penned by Editor-in-Chief of News 24, Adriaan Basson, saying it is offensive. Basson refers to what he calls Mpofu's 'thuggish behaviour' at the Judicial Service Commission's interviews for a new Chief Justice last week, in particular his questions to Gauteng Judge President Dunstan Mlambo regarding allegations of sexual harassment. The advocates say the article is not only an insult to Mpofu, but also racist towards non-white advocates in the legal fraternity.  A woman has been arrested after being caught red-handed breaking into the City of Johannesburg's Metro Centre in the early hours of Monday morning. It is believed the woman previously broke into the offices, but evaded authorities. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Wayne Minnaar  

Serial killer, Julius Mndawe is back at the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court for sentencing on Monday. Mndawe was found guilty on counts of murder and defeating the ends of justice. He was arrested for killing and burying five women in his yard at Numbi village near Hazyview in 2019. The women aged between 15 and 24 were killed between 2018 and 2019. Police arrested him after a cellular phone of one of the victims was found in his possession in 2019. He pleaded guilty to the murder but told the court that the murders were not premeditated. The father  who is  a suspect in the brutal rape of his two-year old daughter has appeared in court on Monday.  He is facing a charge of rape and additional one of murder after the toddler succumbed to her injuries in hospital. The sale of scrap metal remains a huge challenge not only in South Africa but in other parts of the African continent. Last week Kenya's president UHURU Kenyatta,banned the sale of scrap metal due to vandalism of key infrastructure. This includes theft of power cables which led to three days of national blackouts at the beginning of the year. Back home the sale of metal scrap continues to threaten railway, electricity and other key infrastructures. Strong winds and heavy rainfall caused by Tropical Storm Ana have disrupted the lives of thousands of children in four countries in Eastern and Southern Africa. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) says the situation in some locations remains dire for children and families on the ground. Latest reports indicate that parts of Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe have been hit by the first seasonal cyclone in the region.  The kidnapping and murder case of suspected serial killer, 36-year-old Themba Dube, has been postponed for further investigations in the Seshego Magistrate's Court near Polokwane in Limpopo.
