Update at noon has exclusively learnt that Mandla Maphumulo (MAMPINTSHA) has spent at least one night at the Onomo hotel in Durban and checked out this morning. Earlier today National Police Commissioner General Khehle Sitole gave the assurance that the arrest of musician Mandla Maphumulo, who is known as Mampintsha is imminent. Our producer Aphiwe Honono called the hotel and was transferred to Mampintsha's room and briefly spoke to him. 10 minutes later the hotel confirmed that he has checked out of the hotel. Mampintsha was arrested a short while later.

Brigadier Vish Naidoo; Spokesperson for the National Police Commissioner, General Kehla Sitole says anybody can open a case on behalf of Babes Wodumo, however a statement from her is preferable. This after a video went viral showing the popular Wololo hit maker being beaten by musician Mampintsha. Naidoo adds that a senior police officer has been assigned to investigate.

says the National Commissioner has ordered police to trace the whereabouts of Babes Wodumo so that statement can be obtained from her and a case opened. Brigadier Naidoo also says that anyone can open a case but a statement from Babes Wodumo is preferred.

The sister of Bongekile Simelane, whose known as Babes Wodumo - Nondumiso Simelane has confirmed that her Boyfriend and Manager Mandla Maphumulo - AKA Mampintsha did indeed assualt the artist. The video which has since gone viral on social media show Mampintsha slappng Babes Wodumo during what appears to be an argument between the two. Babes Wodumo appears to have strategically placed her mobile phone in her bedroom to record the abuse. She is seen crying after being slapped. The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, General Khehla John Sitole, has instructed the Limpopo provincial police to mobilize the 72-Hour Activation Plan in the brutal killing of 27 year old Thoriso Themane. Themane was beaten up by a group of teenagers, aged between 15 &16 at a park in Flora Park suburb in Polokwane on Saturday. The perpetrators took a video of the incident and posted it on social media. Five learners from different schools in Polokwane have since been arrested. Former property mogul, Jason Rohde, has been sentenced to 18 years in jail for the murder of his wife, Susan, in the High Court in Cape Town. She was murdered at the Spier Wine Estate near Stellenbosch in July 2016. Judge Gayaat Salie-Hlophe also sentenced Rohde to five years for obstructing the ends of justice.

Kwa Zulu Natal premier Willis Mchunu has been rushed off stage after taking ill while delivering his state of the province address. Mchunu had just taken to the podium but was rushed out of the venue.

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane says Finance Minister Tito Mboweni was incorrect in defending Treasury DG Dondo Mogajane, by saying that he merely failed to disclose a traffic fine when applying for the DG post. Mboweni was speaking at a media briefing ahead of his 2019 budget speech. He said his department supported Mogajane and that he would take Mkhwebane's report on judicial review. However the Public Protector said in a statement that Mogajane was convicted in a court of law and had failed to disclose this in his application. We speak to the Public Protector spokesperson Oupa Segalwe.

Ajay Gupta is no longer a fugitive from justice. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed his arrest warrant against him for corruption has been cancelled. This means he can return to SA without fear of arrest. We reached out to both the NPA and the Hawks for further clarity on this matter but they have both passed the buck to each other. The hawks have referred us to the NPA while the NPA has also done the same. We spoke to Forensic Investigator and Founder of Forensics for Justice Paul O'Sullivan for his reaction.

But over-shadowing the general elections is fact that Nigeria overtook India last year as the country with the most people living in extreme poverty - on less than R30 a day. Some South African are still shocked this afternoon following accusations by COPE leader Mosiuoa Lekota that president Cyril Ramaphosa gave information to the apartheid special branch about his comrades and that he was in turn rewarded by spending less time in prison. He said this happened during their arrest in 1976 as young anti-apartheid activists. Lekota made the claim during the debate on Ramaphosa's State of the Nation Address in Parliament.
