Robert Mugabe resigned as Zimbabwe's president yesterday evening ending his four decades of rule. The 93-year-old had clung on for a week after an army takeover and expulsion from his own ruling ZANU-PF party, but resigned shortly after parliament began an impeachment process seen as the only legal way to force him out. Wild celebrations broke out at a joint sitting of parliament in Harare when Speaker Jacob Mudenda announced Mugabe's resignation and suspended the impeachment procedure. Members of the Public Enterprises Committee and the Evidence Leader Ntuthuzelo Vanara roasted former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe during his testimony into Eskom inquiry in parliament last night. During a marathon grilling which lasted until the early hours this morning-questions put to Molefe varied from his relationship with the Gupta family, the R30 million pension fund payout to him by Eskom and the findings of the former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela about the alleged phone calls he made while around the house of the Gupta family in Saxonworld, Johannesburg. Despite his initial reluctance to provide direct answers to questions posed to him- Molefe admitted some of the claims levelled against him as facts. These include, an admission in what he calls a mistake of the pension fund payout to him by Eskom. Abongwe Kobokana filed this report.

Zimbabwe is awaiting the return of Emmerson Mnangagwa - the man who served as former President Robert Mugabe's right-hand man. Mnangagwa will be sworn as interim president this afternoon after Mugabe stepped down yesterday. Mugabe fired Mnangagwa on November the sixth, triggering a military take-over. Mnangagwa reportedly fled to South Africa after receiving death threats. We speak to Senior Research Consultant at Institute for Security Studies, Derek Matyszak.

President Jacob Zuma will not travel to Zimbabwe as was earlier planned. This reverses a decision by members of SADeC who met in Angola that Zuma and his Angolan counterpart João Lourenço would travel to Zimbabwe to assess the situation. The Presidency says the trip has been postponed until further notice.

The community of Eldorado Park south of Johannesburg was thrust into the spotlight again last month after the violent murder of 4-year-old Shaynice Talla. Her body was found tossed inside a drain near her family home. She had been reported missing on the same day. Since then the community has mobilised to try and curb the scourge of violent crime in the area. However they feel they are alone in this fight as it seems government and law enforcement are not pulling their weight. Jamaine Krige reports...

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and his axed Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa will soon be in talks about the current political impasse. The nation's Defense Force - yesterday (Monday) revealed that the pair had already been in contact with each other. According to military leader, General Constantino Chiwenga - Mnangagwa is expected to arrive back in Harare soon. We speak to SABC reporter, Noma Bolani.

Services have come to a complete stand still in the Emfuleni local municipality in the Vaal due to the unavailability of water. Schools, clinics, businesses and households have been affected and have been forced to find alternative means to get water. This follows Rand Water's announcement over the weekend that it has cut off water supply to the municipality by 60%, which includes the historic townships of Sharpeville, Sebokeng and Evaton. Rand Water says this is part of it's credit control measure to force the municipality to cough up the over 370-million rands in overdue payment. Ditaba Tsotetsi reports...
