The Black Sash- a civil society organisation says they waiting with bated breath for what the Minister of Finance Pravin Gordan will announce at this year's budget speech, later today. Black Sash's National Advocacy Manager, Elroy Paulus says his organisation is hoping that government will protect the poor from the current difficult economic times.

Passanger Rail Agency- PRASA says it is working to rid itself of the legacy of its former CEO Lucky Montana. This as Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts asked questions about the agency's management practices and board oversight. The Auditor General found among other things that PRASA had incurred fruitless and wasteful expenditure to the value of more than 550 million rand. Public protector Public Protector Thuli Madonsela says it a major concern that the post office moved to Lavish offices in Centurion at a higher rental. This happened , at a time when it was experiencing financial constraints. When investigating allegations of maladministration and corruption related to improper conduct in the leasing of the Eco Point Office Park, she discovered that the motivation for the relocation was doctored. University Rector Free State, Jonathan Jansen says the university will deal with incidents of violence internally. Protesting students and workers clashed with spectators during a varsity rugby cup game, when they invaded the pitch and disrupted the match. The university has condemned the attack on protestors and at the same time did not condone the disruption of rugby activities. Konelo Lekhafola reports

National Organiser of the Socialist Youth Movement at the University of the Free State, Itumeleng Lecheko, has blamed the rector Professor Jonathan Jansen for the protest on the Bloemfontein campus. Security has been tightened on the university's Bloemfontein campus where lectures have been suspended in the wake of workers' protests the workers who are being supported by students are demanding an end to outsourcing at the institution. The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) says the Tlokwe by-elections in the North West province will go ahead as planned, despite the court application by independent candidates seeking the elections to be postponed. More than a thousand people are expected to vote today with special votes ahead of tomorrow's by-elections in seven wards. Voting stations will open at eight this morning and close at five in the evening for the special votes. Itumeleng Kgajane reports
