A panel discussion leading up to Reconciliation Day celebrations revealed that more is to be done to achieve reconciliation in South Africa. The year was highlighted by turmoil with violent service delivery protests, attacks on foreign national owned businesses and mass student protests. Civil society organisation Section 27 has confirmed that it has been granted permission to march in the Johannesburg CBD today. It is demanding the resignation of President Zuma. A Zuma-Must-Fall-march is also planned at the Union Buildings in Pretoria. Corruption Watch has organised a march in Cape Town. The Unite Against Corruption movement will protest close to Parliament. President Jacob Zuma has called on the public to report abuse, neglect and exploitation of elderly persons. He was speaking during his visit to the Lodewyk P. Spies Home in Eersterust east of Pretoria yesterday, this as part of promoting care and support for older persons. Marches against President Jacob Zuma will go ahead despite the change in the Finance Ministry. The President appointed Pravin Gordan back as minister of Finance to quell the uproar that followed the appointment of the little-known Member of Parliament David Van Rooyen. Provincial Veterinary Services in Limpopo have detected an outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth disease in cattle in the Matiane community, in the Thulamela local municipality of the Vhembe District. The Thulamela Local Municipality is within the country's FMD protection zone where vaccination for the disease is routinely conducted. The only surviving victim of the triple family murder in Katlehong on Gauteng's East Rand says she wants justice to prevail. Nthabiseng Letsoalo survived a brutal attack at the hands of her two cousins. The other three victims, two teenage girls and a seven month old baby, were assaulted and their bodies tossed inside a bathtub full of boiling water. Neliswa Mavundla reports

New UDM deputy President Khanyisile Litchfield Tshabalala has big plans for the party and says she will be doing things differently. Litchfield-Tshabalala was elected to be second in command at the party's elective congress over the weekend. She beat chief whip Nqabayomzi Kwankwa by 65 votes. Litchfield-Tshabalala joined the party barely six months ago after she was expelled by the EFF. UDM President Bantu Holomisa was returned to position by an overwhelming majority.
