Gauteng Roads and Transport MEC , Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, has called on South Africans to protect the e-hailing industry. Diale-Tlabela made the call following a meeting with taxi associations and e-hailing drivers at Maponya Mall on Monday. The session was aimed at bringing peace between the two transportation services, following the brutal murder of 27-year-old e-hailing driver Mthokozisi Mvelase last week Wednesday evening. Mvelase was fatally shot at the mall, allegedly by disgruntled taxi operators. His vehicle along with another e-hailing vehicle were then torched. Diale-Tlabela say's there must be peace in the public transport industry...

Angry community members from Pimville in Soweto have blockaded taxi operators from operating in the Maponya Mall area. This follows the brutal murder of one person while two others were seriosly injured during an attack on e-hailing drivers. Police say, an e-hailing vehicle was seen stopping at the entrance of the Mall last night when about four men approached the driver and shot at him before torching his vehicle. Another vehicle which was nearby was shot at but the driver managed to flee while his vehicle was also torched. Earlier our reporters caught us with a group of protesting residents...

Four men have been gunned down in a mass shooting this morning at the Overcome Heights informal settlement in Muizenberg (in Cape Town). Police say the bodies of the victims  were found on the side of the road. The National Union of Mineworkers - NUM's Phillip Vilakazi says the SACP is ill-advised on its decision to contest future elections independently. He was speaking in an exclusive interview with the SABC following his election as new NUM president. He says the alliance was never formed on the basis of elections. The Department of International Relations has rejected a U.S. State Department Human Rights Country report on South Africa as inaccurate and deeply flawed. The State Department earlier released its annual country report on Human Rights Practices including on South Africa where it alleged that the human rights situation in South Africa significantly worsened during the year, citing reports of arbitrary and unlawful killings, arbitrary arrest or detention and the repression of racial minorities. The community of Eldorado Park, in Johannesburg, has called for justice for a 4-year old girl who was allegedly physically and sexually assaulted by her own father. The 32-year-old father is expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court today on a range of charges, including murder and assault. The father was originally charged with attempted murder, however the docket was amended to reflect a charge of murder after the girl succumbed to her injuries. A 39-year-old man accused of repeatedly raping his daughter resulting in her falling pregnant will today learn whether or not he will be granted bail. The Tsakane Magistrate's Court in Brakpan is set to hear the matter. The alleged sexual assaults began in March 2022 when the girl was 15 years of age. After turning 18, the child opened a case against her father, leading to his arrest last month. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC Reporter, Horisani Sithole

The North West Department of Education is today visiting the family of the learner who died after collapsing on school grounds after  allegedly being punished for being late when the incident occurred. The grade ten learner was allegedly made to run on the school grounds as a form of punishment  for being late. The learner from Huhudi Secondary School, in Ganyesa in the North West province was rushed to the nearest clinic after the incident and was declared dead on arrival.The North West department of education is investigating the circumstances surrounding the teen's death. We spoke to Mphata Molokwane, Spokesperson for the  North West Education Department. 

Chaos has erupted in Germiston as City Officiaals from Ekurhuleni continue to enforce evictions while residents of an apartment complext scramble to collect their belonging that are being thrown outside. Angry residents say it is sad to see themselves being thrown out on the street while corruption soars in the country by politicians.
