HOST INTRO: Earlier this month, Ireland changed its law on domestic violence. Now “coercive control” is a crime. That’s when someone intimidates, degrades, isolates, controls or abuses a partner. The UK has similar laws. Here in the United States, things are different. The Department of Justice, under the Trump Administration, has dialed back the definition of domestic violence. In other words, the definition has been narrowed. Lauren Lantry investigates.
