This is a story about food insecurity among college students in New York City. Changing requirements to SNAP (formerly food stamps) may allow for greater participation in the program for college students, a population vulnerable to hunger.

The Lockport School District in New York says it’s the first in the state to use facial recognition technology to protect its students. The technology works by scanning people’s faces and if that scan matches someone in a database who is known to be a threat, school administrators will be alerted. But the use of the new technology has created a sharp divide between the Lockport administrators and the parents who oppose it. Cecily Mauran has the story.
