TXÄI is the indigenous name of the next Urban Cosmonaut in this series, meaning: more than a friend, more than a brother, half of him lives in you and half of you in him, a fusion of artist and listener.

While listening to his mixtape – you fall in and out, back and forth, left and right between continents and tribes, expressions and sounds, beats and melodies. What started as a New Year’s Eve party playlist 3 years ago quickly became a journey into the world of mixing music. Eventually, this led to the birth of ‘CasaCaos’ – a musical collective of passionate, chaos­contaminated bodies channeling their exploration of music in an online label.

Many of the tracks in Urban Cosmonaut Podcast #12 are upcoming CasaCaos label releases, blended in with forest sound samples, an outtake of a Brazilian poem by Manuel Bandeira and a mosaic of a frenetic/acid/wet Txäi favourites, recorded at 4 am after waking up to the sound of silence. “Q: What inspired this podcast?

A: It was created in the days when spring begins, and then the spring never came.”

Barda’s galactic Urban Cosmonaut Radio podcast #10 was born in longing for blooming flowers and sunny days in Buenos Aires...and yet it’s a colourful hybrid of melancholy, warmth and cumbia rhythms, taking us on a ride through the Patagonian steppe ­ where we dance to sayas and cumbias, traces of dub and

minimal, sounds of guitars and synths, and memories of Peruvian chicha.

The next set in this series is an eclectic blend of Cecilia Gebhard ­ aka Barda’s ­ own productions, remixes and mashups. Her musical roots are influenced by the textures of trip hop, electronic downtempo and her very first musical memory of The Beatles performing “Let It Be” on TV as a young child. After. singing and playing drums and guitar in rock bands as a teenager, she started producing music in 2013.

Spring may never have come to Buenos Aires, but something beautiful blossomed here in the Urban Cosmic Universe. Let’s see where it takes us.

San Ignacio is an Argentinian artist from the Tigre delta, with creative roots that lie in DJing & producing experimental-noise music since he was 19. He also happens to be a juggler of harmonies, music mixologist and percussion poet who’s put together the next edition in this podcast series, brought to you by your glocal Urban Cosmonaut Soundscapeship.

The artist - and traveler at heart - David Mears was born in the south of France and is currently based in Paris. He started to produce “math rock” 3 years ago, but since then David’s music has evolved into a reflection of himself: emotional, deep, a blend of different places, stories and sensitivities.

This UCR podcast is the third episode in his SENSA trilogy and is named after a powerful place in India that inspired him so much, he decided to record its native sounds to create the beginning of this set.

VARANASI was produced like all of David’s music: he composes different elements, one after the other, and then records everything live in one take. The result is beautiful sets that build up slowly, move in waves and take the listener on a melancholic journey throbbing with heartbeats. Marina Sarno AKA Marinka URUBU was born in Salvador, northeastern Brazil and lived for some years in Sao Paulo. A month ago, she moved to Germany and settled in Leipzig. She is a member of Voodoohop party formation, who are well-known for their extraordinary extended shows.

She made this podcast on the trains, between flights, witnessing constantly changing landscapes and transitions. In a total urban cosmonaut mood. It is a compilation of tracks made by various international producers and friends, some popular Brazilian tunes and as introduction are used Marinka's sounds experiments with the machines.

Baru has been a DJ for almost 15 years and, after a while living in Spain, got inspired by South American and Spanish organic live music. Since last year produces his own tracks. In the search for his own original sound, he experiments with mixing organic samples from areas such as roots and world music with contemporary electronic music directions. While making a UCR-podcast, he imagined what it would be like to walk through the streets of the city while listening to this on headphones: lost in thoughts, dreaming… and occasionally interrupted by the noise of traffic. Lotte Ahoi is a multi­culturally inspired and multi­tasking DJ, graphic designer and collector of music gems. In order to understand what moves her and what moves her listeners, one has to imagine the nature of a sloth ­ a sloth that loves* music but hates* stress, instead choosing to hang on a tree, watching the flowers grow and waiting for the sun to shine in her ears.

Inspired by the emerging generation of electronic music producers interpreting their own and other’s musical roots in genre­blind fusions of sounds, her sets tend to break with tradition without actually breaking them at all giving the “almost forgotten but anyway wonderful music” a spotlight on a stage they deserve.
