*Seattle School Superintendent Dr. Brent Jones comments on the district's revised plan to now only close five schools instead of the earlier report that 21 schools would be closed fo the 2025-2026 school year. Over the past five years the Seattle Public Schools has experienced an enrollment loss of 5,000 students. The 9% drop in enrollment has cost the district 81million dollars in state funding.
*Ram Dixit, Co Founder, President, MLK Gandhi Empowerment Initiative comment on the progress on the technology program that will be expose some who have been left out of the tech revolution by providing training in AI, Cloud, Security and other aspects of technology.
*Sam Cho, Director of Strategic Initiatives for Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell. Mr. Cho has worked closely with the Consulate General of India, Seattle and played an integral role in the "International Day of Non-Violence" which is also Mahatma Gandhi's 155th Birthday which was celebrated at the Seattle Center this morning.

*Attorney Jesse Wineberry, Co Founder, Washington Equity Now Alliance (WENA) who was instrumental in crafting a draft Executive Order for the Governor to establish a Commission to study reparations for African Descendants of the USA Enslaved in Washington State. The resolution in support of the EO was passed unanimously on June 23, 2024 at the Washington State Democratic Convention with over 1,000 Delegates voting in favor.

Braxton, Pastor, New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, (NBCF) Kent, WA will be the keynote speaker for the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration/Continuation Committee (MLKCC) program where we will be acknowledging the 61st Anniversary of the August 28, 1963 March on Washington DC for Jobs and Freedom. The Wednesday, August 28 event is being held at the Holgate Street Church of Christ, 2600 South Holgate, Seattle 98144. The activities began with a 5:00 pm social hour, the program starts at 6:30 pm.
*Minister Jimmy Hurd, Pastor, Holgate Church of Christ , he and the congregation have hosted numerous Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration/Continuation Committee events. He will comment on how far we have come since the August 28,1963 March on Washington DC for Jobs and Freedom.
*Hayward Evans, Co Convener, Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration/Continuation Committee (MLKCC) provides the details for the August 28 program at Holgate Church of Christ that will include entertainment by Josephine Howell, Butch Harrison, Chandler Williams, and Reverend Sam Townes.
*Shaude' Moore, Chair, Seattle MLK Organizing Coalition and CEO, McKinney Center for Community and Economic Development comments on her organizations efforts to fulfill the "Dream" of Dr. King. She will speak on the program on Wednesday, August 28 at Holgate Street Church of Christ.

*Consulate General of India in Seattle-Consul General Prakash Gupta is a career diplomat having served in several countries around the world and the United Nations. The Seattle Consulate opened on February 23, 2024. Consul General Gupta will comment on activities for India Independence Day (1947) Thursday, August 15.
*Debadutta Dash, is an Advisor to the Consul General Gupta. Dash was one of the founders of Washington State and India Trade Relations Action Committee (WASITRAC) an organization that supported trade between Washington State businesses and firms in India. He also served as a Commissioner, Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (CAPAA).
*Ram Dixit, President, MLK Gandhi Empowerment Initiative has long work history in the technology industry and is using his expertise to technologically enable participants from under served communities in Martin Luther King Jr. County.
*Anjali Dixit is a second year student at the University of California at Berkeley where she is studying political science and economics. She is passionate about social justice. She was a member of the Seattle King County NAACP Youth Council and this summer served as an intern for Congressman Raj Krishnamoorthi (D) Illinois 8th Congressional District.
*Hayward Evans, Co Convener, Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration/Continuation Committee (MLKCC) provides updates for the 61st Anniversary of the August 28, 1963 March on Washington DC for Jobs and Freedom. The event will be held in Seattle on August 28 beginning at Holgate Street Church of Christ with a social hour beginning at 5:00 pm (PDT).

*Derrick Wheeler-Smith and Dominic Davis pays tribute to their late father, Reverend Arthur Douglas Wheeler Jr. who had many accomplishments in his life working as a Mediator for the King County Prosecutors Office, the Seattle Police Department as assistant director of the Victim's Assistance Unit and with NOVA as a Grief Crisis Counselor handling high-profile cases. In 1982 he became principal of Zion Christian School which later became Zion Prep Academy.
*Mian Rice, Director, Port of Seattle's Diversity Contracting Office provides an update on the accomplishments of his office and informs prospective business owners of opportunities. He will also comment on his work with Kenny Lyles who is retiring from the port after 40 years of service. We will also speak with a number Mr. Lyles colleagues that will share their memories of him in the work place.
