- E012 - Newsupdate 11/2025: SLES 16, Ubuntu 25.10, RHEL 9.7/10.1, Fedora 43, neue Steam-Hardware
In November durften wir uns über mehrere neue Releases freuen: neben dem lang ersehnten SLES 16 standen auch Ubuntu 25.10, RHEL 9.7 und 10.1 sowie Fedora 43 auf dem Plan. Steam überraschte mit neuer Hardware, während TUXEDO ein ARM-Projekt pausieren musste. In sudo-rs, runc und tar sind CVEs aufgetaucht. Proxmox 9.1, Incus 6.18 und IncusOS wurden veröffentlicht. Eine verschollen geglaubte UNIX V4-Kopie ist überraschend wieder aufgetaucht.

Die öffentliche Verwaltung digital souverän machen – das ist die Aufgabe des Zentrums für digitale Souveränität (ZenDiS). Gemeinsam mit unseren Gästen Janou Feikens und Viktor Moster sprechen wir über die Ziele und Organisation des ZenDiS, das Verständnis von digitaler Souveränität sowie die Rolle von Open Source in Staat und Verwaltung.
Wir werfen einen genaueren Blick auf OpenCoDE, den offenen Kollaborationsraum für Behörden, und diskutieren Herausforderungen und Chancen für Open-Source-Projekte in der Verwaltung. Außerdem geht es um OpenDesk, die offene Arbeitsplatzumgebung für Behörden, die Pilotprojekte, Betriebsmodelle und die Frage, wie Standardisierung und Nachhaltigkeit in der Behörden-IT umgesetzt werden können.
Zum Abschluss blicken wir in die Zukunft: Welche Projekte plant das ZenDiS, und wie sieht eine digital souveräne Verwaltung im Jahr 2030 aus?

Auch im September überschlagen sich die News: Android-Sideloading wird erschwert und Intel teilverstaatlicht. Bei NPM gibt es gleich zwei Angriffe und bcachefs ist in Zukunft ein extern gepflegtes Kernelmodul. GNOME 49 erscheint während Mozilla ab September 2026 keine 32-bit Firefox-Versionen mehr bereitstellen wird. Die Zerschlagung von Google wurde erstmal verhindert, die Apache Software Foundation ändert ihr Branding. Kubernetes 1.34 wird veröffentlicht und eine spannende technische Vorschau ermöglicht Container Live-Migrationen. Bei einigen OSS-Projekten herrscht diesen Monat eine hohe Fluktuation. Die Vorfreude auf openSUSE Leap 16 wächst.
