URN

This episode we discuss all things Sudanese culture! If you have ever wondered what this fascinating country has to offer (great food and scuba diving are my personal favourites) then give this episode a listen!

After our Easter break, the Film Show is back with a rundown of the Best Picture nominees for the 2021 Oscars! We're talking Sound of Metal, Promising Young Woman, Judas and the Black Messiah & Minari! Check out our previous episodes for our review of Mank too! (The Trial of the Chicago 7 review will be put up with the archive of podcasts from before Christmas, look out for that coming soon!)

Quick content warning too (as stated in the podcast intro): in our discussion of Promising Young Woman, we inevitably talk about the topic sexual assault. The discussion isn't overly graphic or detailed but if you'd like to give the segment a miss, it goes from 14:05 to 29:50.

So, we're heaping love on Riz Ahmed, Carey Mulligan, Daniel Kaluuya, Lakeith Stanfield for some breathtaking performances & talking a bit about how we tackle weighty topics in film with Promising Young Woman's approach to sexual assault and Sound of Metal's exploration of Deaf identity & substance abuse. We're back in the studio for this one so there are a few technical difficulties but we manage to survive and I reckon we've ended up with a pretty great show!

Hope you enjoy!
