In Episodes #2 - #6, we did a great job of breaking down what "Focusing On Us" means to not only our children but to each other as respective partners. In Episode #7, we did a wrap up/overview of those episodes. If you haven't had an opportunity to listen, check it out as soon as you are done listening to this one ๐
For you older parents, there was a show called Pee Wee's Playhouse and in every episode, there was a word of the day! Every time someone said that word, everyone screamed! For this episode, OUR word is INTENTION (start screaming y'all!). Being intentional is so vital in communication with your partner and your children.
Join us as we discuss:
Introducing: "Being Intentional with Them"
Parenting with Intention
Being mindful in different situations and how you approach them
Why it's difficult to build with intention if you are unaware of age appropriate behavior
Showing them how to be a good person, disciplined and have values by example
Teaching them how to intentionally pick up pieces
Having a plan for when we are triggered

This week we are going to do things a little differently. Our conversation is going to be a wrap-up of the key topics of 'Focusing on Us'.
Why?
Well, to be honest, we weren't planning this 'summary' episode, but as with conscious parenting, sometimes things don't go as planned. In those moments, it good to reflect on where you are, re-evaluate and be solution-focused. With that in mind, we thought this would be a good point to share what 'Focusing on Us' has looked like for us since the launch of the podcast.
Overall, we will be discussing everything we discovered thus far in this season of Us Them We:
Understanding/Remembering our why
Self-awareness
Communication (part 1 and 2)
Leadership
Knowledge and skills

Pop Quiz! Are parents given a manual for raising kids? Any guesses? The answer is: No, we donโt have a manual but we have our knowledge passed down from our parents we can implement for our kids. We can also bring in our own skills we learn by doing research into what practices we believe would be best for our family.ย
Thatโs what todayโs lesson is. Take your notes because weโre about to school you with some knowledge and skills we have learned growing up with our parents with examples, as well as what weโve learned with conscious parenting.ย
In todayโs episode we will be discussing:
How we came into our parenting skills
Why parenting knowledge and skills are important
How we can leverage knowledge and skills from our parents
Are time outs a good problem solver for children?
