This is no ordinary romp down memory lane, but a critical assessment of the last 365 days. Join Tom Osborne and his news team for a collection of moments many of us won't soon forget and it's all here for you to digest. Our first annual presentation of the Year In Review. US World Report - presents ‘Miracle on 70thStreet’
Meet Lou Stallman & his son Jerry Potente, one of the last surviving Tin Pan Alley songwriting teams in NYC. With a catalogue of nearly 500 songs and still growing, Lou has had a prolific career. Most recently, one of his songs is topping the charts again. “Round and Round” written in 1956 with his partner at that time Joe Shapiro for recording artist Perry Como. It’s now a 2018 megahit, thanks to a TARGET Department Stores holiday marketing campaign. Unknown to Lou, the Australian artist Sia recorded and released her version of ‘Round and Round’, this past November on a Christmas CD. Target has used the track in their Thanksgiving and Christmas television ads nation-wide. Now, Jennifer Hudson has sung her version of the song on 'The Voice', just about 10 days ago. NBC and Target collaborated on this effort with a spectacular children’s choral group all dressed in Holiday Red and Gold. ‘This Rags to Riches’ story has been a blessing for Lou and Jerry and it couldn’t come at a better time. “The record business has changed,” said Lou recently. “I’ve written for Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin and many other artists over the years, but nothing like this has ever happened.” Join Tom Osborne and his radio news team for their 2018 Hanukkah and Christmas special ‘Miracle on 70th Street’. Enjoy!
It’s Mueller Time!
With credible fears that he may be compromised by Russia, President Trump’s alibies and allies dwindle to a very few. His words of denial are mocked throughout the world. A feckless, inept and silent Republican Congress ignores one of the first casualties of this presidency, the Rule of Law. America and its allies are demanding to know how much more time does Mueller need to bring down the hammer of justice on a presidency now out of control? In this moment of peril confronting the United States of America. Join the US World Report news team as they attempt to bring this debilitating confusion into focus. We invite you aboard the Truth Train in segment four of our show with Tom Osborne, Dr. David Kanervo and Ken McCaleb. It’s both funny and informative journalism at its best with our collected response to fake news! You’ll finally hear more about Robert Mueller and his investigative probe on this week’s program than anywhere else in radio. Mary Saliba throws her stinging one/two punch into the mix in segment five with her powerful editorial. From the Heritage Foundation to CNN commentary, this is the real deal back-story!
Caravan or March To Freedom
Why are people traveling as a caravan from Central America to the U.S.? Will they finally find security or be turned away? Has runaway corruption, droughts and floods linked to climate change been a driving factor? Are the odds of American tradition stacked against them? Listen to the voices of those who have tried and failed and listen to the voices of those who were successful but now wish to go back home. It’s the story of an intolerable situation driven by domestic violence and its effect on men, women and children. The lack of economic opportunity to find jobs is also a significant player in this equation. Finally, we ask the question… Can Trump legally cut aid off to Central America? Join US World Report’s Tom Osborne, Dr. David Kanervo, Mary Saliba and Ken McCaleb as they reveal what’s really happened to this group of exhausted refugees seeking asylum.
It all started out fairly innocently enough way back in college, or did it?
Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg are now under fire for not patrolling the trolls that are attacking their online social media platform. Since 2012 Facebook began to slip from public opinion’s grace and now the company is in real trouble.
They’ve been accused of promoting hate speech, influencing elections, even allowing the marketing of child brides. Hearings in Washington, DC have suggested they have become the new insatiable Little Shop of Horror who’s starring plant moans, “Feed Me!” Perhaps historically Facebook will be remembered as the grand daddy who gave birth to fake news. Join Tom Osborne and his radio team as they discuss Russia who now seems determined to distance itself from the platform it so successfully manipulated. We think this is one of the most informative and objective shows you’ll ever hear on this (in your face) topic. Are they innocent or guilty? That’s for you to decide! (Airdate) 12/01/18.
America first puts America last. It’s the world’s breadbasket. The isolation of the United States is taking our country back to a place that never existed. Join Tom Osborne and his staff as they explore a new day in America where responsibilities are met and challenges are dealt with. Hear the voices of farmers, steel workers and former Democrats who put their trust, loyalty and livelihood in the hands of Donald Trumpand now wonder why. US World Report reveals the back story!
The United States Of Anger-The New Face Of Nationalism
Post Mid-Term elections the staff of US World Report unravels the Orwellian threats to society today. We’re being asked to compare apples to oranges, rocks to rifles, objectifying or electrifying. Where in all of this is our country’s soul? What are we teaching our children about free speech and what it means to be an American? How can we put America first and still remain leader of the free world? Why are we such angry people? The stock market is up and unemployment is down. Yet, no one has any sense of civility now that fear is more powerful than hope. Will the new Congress come to our rescue? Join Tom Osborne, Dr. David Kanervo, Mary Saliba and Ken McCaleb in one of their most provocative radio programs of 2018.
As the U.S. Midterm Campaign 2018 draws to a close, US World Report takes a deep dive into the world of Entitlements. What is the long-term health of our health care system? Learn about the relationship of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the heavy burden of student loans you are carrying; not to mention Pre-Existing Conditions. You’re either all-in or your all-out; if you don’t vote-- all of these so-called Entitlements will most likely disappear into the so-called balanced U.S. budget. There, they will suffer a thousand cuts--death by amendments. Don’t even ask about Medicaid. How can we pay for it? How long will it last? Not long, if you don’t vote to change this path, you will be threatening your own retirement, your health care, and that of your children. Vote this Tuesday Nov. 6thand change your country’s direction and its priorities—all this is in your hands if you’re 18 or older.
US World Report tracks the alarming increase in mental illness in America. Drug dependence and addiction, alcoholism, depression and suicide know no bounds. Impacting nearly every family and millions of our youth, 1 in 5 adults in the U.S.—43.8 million suffer from some form of mental illness. Mental illness strikes our overcrowded cities, stretching into the suburban sprawl to the heart of America, and the loneliness of a rural farm family in the Midwest. Many times hidden by crime statistics, highway deaths, or suicide, no one is immune to this silent mania. One in five of our kids suffer from a diagnosable mental, emotional or behavioral disorder with no access to professional help. Join us in this discussion as US World Report lifts the shroud and stigma that remains hidden behind crime statistics, highway deaths, broken homes, school shootings, and political extremists. Solutions abound, but clearly there are no easy answers to this crisis. Listen to authorities we bring to the discussion who give us a snapshot of what is to come if we are not able to make treatment affordable and available to these millions of sufferers. A whole generation of Americans is at stake.
This week US World Report visits China, a land where big brother is watching everything; where your life and your career can be predetermined as the Economist put it, by a “digital totalitarian state. Almost a half century ago, it was Richard Nixon, of all our president’s, who broke the mold when he traveled to China and took the world and the United States with him. What has changed because of that visit? Is the so called middle kingdom friend or foe? Join us as we probe this question, and just exactly what kind of relationship we want with a country of 1.3 billion people organized by the state? Is the price of our economic relationship a threat to our freedom in the long run? Is it wise or even possible to hold our fire and find common ground?
