McMinnville, OR – The McMinnville
Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has named Gioia Goodrum
as its new CEO/President. Goodrum replaces Nathan Knottingham, who
left the Chamber after leading the organization for nearly three
years.
Goodrum is expected to be in the office
no later than September 1 pending a move from Southern California and
a local place to live. Before McMinnville, Goodrum served as
CEO/President at Chambers of Commerce in Southern California and
Arizona. Additionally, she has held positions at Yavapai College,
Coopers and Lybrand and at her family’s restaurant, Le Bocage
Restaurant in Watertown, MA. She holds a MBA from Simmons College
and a Bachelor of Science from Boston University.
“As chair of the board, I would like
to thank the selection committee for the care and time they spent in
reviewing, interviewing and meeting candidates in order to get a good
match for McMinnville. We are thrilled to have Gioia’s experience
in Chamber work and small business and are confident she will be a
McMinnvillian in no time”, said Deanna Benson, current Chair of the
Board.
Goodrum has
served on the Simi Valley Youth Employment Services Commission Board,
Coconino County Workforce Investment Board, has been a member of the
Arizona Association for Economic Development and is a current member
of the Western Association of Chamber Executives. She is married to
Perry Goodrum and together they have two cats.

July 27, 2016 Yamhill Polk county burn ban starts Friday 12:01am July 29th

Burn ban set for Yamhill County and portions of Polk County
The Yamhill County Fire Defense Board, in cooperation with the Oregon Department of
Forestry, has enacted a Burn Ban within Yamhill County effective this Friday July 29
th
2016 at 12:01am. Following that decision, all fire jurisdictions will ban outdoor burning
within their jurisdiction, including areas in Polk County served by Amity, Dayton,
Sheridan, and West Valley Fire Districts.
The Burn Ban covers all burning including, but not limited to, the following situations:
1. Individuals normally allowed to backyard burn
2. Individuals normally allowed to burn agricultural waste
3. Individuals with a Hardship Permit issued by DEQ
The Burn Ban does not include recreational burning (backyard fire pits). Individuals
intending to burn in this manner should always exercise caution with fire sources.
Individuals found burning during the burn ban may be issued a citation and/or found
liable for any property loss damage and suppression costs resulting from a burning
incident. The burn ban will remain in effect until significant rains and cooler
temperatures minimize the fire danger in the fall.
