This week, Marissa met with Christine Conrado, USU alum, current graduate student, and Social Worker. Join them as they discuss her diverse career path, a day in the life of Christine, and her tips for internships and skill development. Additionally, dive into Christine's positive outlook life from the perspective of a social worker and her best piece of advice for students who are considering social work. 

Christine is a Social Worker at Intermountain Healthcare and graduate student in the social work department at USU. She has an extensive experience in providing crisis support to individuals, families, and communities. She has strong interpersonal skills, as well as solid planning and organizational capabilities. She also possess the ability to lead and facilitate positive team dynamics. Additionally, she excels at building strong relationships and working within diverse and challenging environments, which is evidenced by her consistent history of exemplary reviews and achievements both academically and professionally. Lastly, she has completed over 300 hours of training in Trauma-Informed Care.

This week, Marissa met with Shashank Chauhan, USU alum and Project Manager at the SEED Foundation. Join them as they discuss Shashank's undergrad experiences and how current events affected them, his career path, and an overview of the SEED Foundation. Additionally, they dive into topics like what his work looks like and issues his team focuses on, the importance of execution, and the most valuable skills in the work he does. Finally, he offers advice to current undergraduate students. 

Shashank received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and Government from USU, then completed a Masters of Science degree in Conflict and Dispute Resolution and became a Doctor of Law at University of Oregon School of Law. Since graduating, he has fulfilled roles such as Field Organizer, Strategy Consultant, Program Manager, and (currently) Project Manager anywhere from Logan, UT to Iraq. He is passionate about Civil Rights and Social Action, Disaster and Humanitarian Relief, Human Rights, Politics, and Poverty Alleviation.

This week, Marissa met with Chris Glaittli, passionate USU alum and Executive Assistant to the Chief Marketing Officer at Pluralsight. Join them as they discuss Chris's educational pathway, transferrable skills, the importance of what Chris calls "storytelling", and highs and lows of his work. Additionally, they cover the topics of embracing the lifelong learner mindset, the continued evolution of the tech industry, and the critical advice he would give to his 18 year old self.

Chris's objective is to have a career where he can unite people together through the power of social media and marketing. Though his hands are working on the next tweet or post, his ears are on the trends and new ways of social media so he can keep the organizations he works with up to date and constantly connecting with new audiences. When he's not working the 9-5, he's either working on home projects, cleaning something, eating pizza, or dreaming of new content and marketing ideas for work.

This week, Marissa is joined by Nadia Kouraytem, a USU professor in the College of Engineering. This episode is jampacked. Marissa and Nadia cover Nadia's unique career path, her current research projects, and, as a speaker of four languages, her motivation to be and the benefits of being bilingual. Additionally, they dive into topics like characteristics and skills of successful mechanical engineers, which include curiosity and drive, utilizing internships to explore fields you'd like to pursue, and what Nadia loves about about being a professor. 

Nadia has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with 7 years experimental research experience investigating fluids using ultra-high speed imaging and mechanical properties of additively manufactured metallic structures in extreme conditions. High quality experiences with various industries (energy, water, aviation) and academia have enhanced her ability to adapt to extreme (oil rig, all male) diverse conditions (109 nationalities at KAUST) and equipment (1 million frames/s camera), to absorb complex knowledge faster (a whole new field in a single internship), to help her become a top performer and through time and resource management be able to deliver high quality results. She is actively involved in the solutions of complex problems both at work and her community, and perfecting her leadership, entrepreneurial and communications skills.
