Shaina Gross, President and CEO of Susan G. Komen (SGK) San Diego, talks about the organization’s goal to reduce the current number of deaths due to breast cancer by 2026. Gross is joined by Mike Fontaine, COO and CFO of Plaza Home Mortgage, a company that has raised $450,000 for Susan G. Komen since 2013. Gross and Fontaine discuss the 22nd Annual Race for the Cure that will be held on Sunday, November 4 in Balboa Park, along with other SGK fundraising events.

Jose Cruz, CEO of the San Diego Council on Literacy, talks about creating a culture where advocacy for literacy is omnipresent. Cruz discusses the shortage of books for children and it’s Literacy Champions Reception slated for December 5 at National University.
