Ut Supra Infra Cast

Abiogenesis:  Mineral, Animal, Vegetable.  Princeton's wordnet defines it:  "a hypothetical organic phenomenon by which living organisms are created from nonliving matter".  It is one of many questions that buoy origin myth; for me it is just fascination.

Perhaps from a viewpoint of experience alone, using only information that one has sensed, a sort of solipsistic genesis could suggest where other life comes from and where humans come from.  Still, an assumption has to be made and credibility lent because no one (I've met) can reliably remember their own origin.  Funny thing, that.  This is the sixth episode.  Six was my favorite number in Latin.

Where is my astrolabe? Who waits for a ship to come in? Lonesome girls, often conspiring with the ocean to assuage their guilt. Longshoremen, figuring they have time to sober up. Those who report to some one or other.  They ask the same question every day with their perpetually concerned expression, which is answered day to day with an empty harbor.

One day their ships will come in. In the meantime, I am looking for one going out. One day a grey-beard loon I be.

Danse Macabre?

This week, the content relates to love lost and life spent in the throes of opiate addiction.  The films Drugstore Cowboy and Withnail & I are themed and much of the music was introduced to me in the UK.

There is a little bit of the steganogrammic, though I doubt anyone would see it, thus the "stegano" aspect of steganogrammic.  The sense I had in composing this podcast was one of turning around to face the demons that torture one, and of addressing them in turn.  Equally, and perhaps more importantly represented is a sense of gratitude and an earnest earnestness about lives led.  The clip at the end before the Israelites song is profound and I've found it to be almost perversely apropos in the life I've known.

The podcast is chapterized.  An enormous success (given that it was done with Windows 7 by a retard).

I pray this podcast finds you and finds you well. I woke up at 0230 GMT-5 and gave up on trying to sleep, and recorded this very cast. There seems to be a thematic anchor of cinema, but my inspiration was drawn from an idea and experience of being a child and believing the world was to end imminently. "We can drink the water from the toilet reservoir, but not the bowl," and "We can cover the windows with telephone books (as if we had them)," are phrases I remember. Anyway, there is beauty in learning to love the bomb. As June has ended in my 33rd year, and I, at the mercy and grace of the Universe go on to live now, I think back on the certainty that I would never see these days. "I'm not going to be alive when I would be thirty." I said. I was so sure. It was my lot. And I was wrong. It's good to be wrong. I'm wrong at least once a day.
