Pickup basketball has been a staple in the lives of men of all ages throughout time. Surely there were cavemen throwing rocks into holes in trees at one point. No one really talks about the good, the bad, the ugly of pickup hoops. Today I'm taking a leadership break, and having a fun only episode.

With their background in athletics, Hunter and Johnnie have a lot of thoughts when it comes to the virtue of TEAM. There are dozens of world famous teamwork cliches. But what does it really mean to be a part of a team?

Being a part of a team requires; humility, initiative, trust, and collaboration. And if we were to be honest, those are just the beginning.

Team concepts can be applied to your workplace, community, or anywhere you have to work with people. This is for you if you've every wanted to grow as a team.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to get a rule implemented in high school sports? Surely you've thought a sport needed to add a certain rule or regulation in order to improve the game or the process. It's not as easy as you'd think.

I am joined by Jay Benish to discuss this process. Jay has been a coach for 18 years on top of being a board member of the coaches association. He gave us some insights as to why we don't have a quick trigger on "improvements" such as the shot clock. We also talked about sectional placements and the playoff seeding system.

The world is overcome with negative emotions. There is an over-abundance of mental health diagnoses. Hunter and Johnnie tackle tough questions. Can a believer suffer from depression? Can someone who is depressed find joy? How does one get out of a mental health dilemma? There are all very challenging discussions but are necessary to have.

Today Hunter is joined by Cam Michael. Cam and Hunter both share a commonality in career and hobby. Both men came from the world of sports and are now in the world of ministry.

Cam played college basketball at the Air Force, and Northern Colorado. Both are competitive D1 programs which require incredible skill and work ethic. They discuss what it takes to make it to that level. Cam's career was ended from an injury was has led to where he is today. An incredible story of God finding people in low places.

They talk about fear, success, coach/pastors kids, and more.

Hunter and Johnnie get deep into the weeds on the topic of parenting kids to have passion. What is a healthy passion for kids to have? How do we balance things like family/church with activities/sports? These are hard conversations, but necessary.

Afterwards the guys discuss maintaining passion for your spouse and finding a job you're passionate about.

Hunter is joined by Tate Unruh. Tate was a standout sharp-shooter in college, then taking his talents overseas. After many years of producing on the court, he is now trying to take lessons learned to change lives.

Tate co-owns a company called The Freedom Lab. He and his partner hope to be able to spread the message liberating people from the bondage of fear.

Hunter and Tate talk about basketball careers, coaching, testimonies, running a business, partnerships, and podcasting.
