"Ye Are Witnesses of These Things"

1. God Gives Us a Task: Share Jesus with Others
God wants us to be a witness—but before that, we must know Christ.
We cannot share Christ if we do not know Him personally.

“Repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” – Luke 24:47

2. God Gives Us a Job
We each have a different place of service.

• Serve Him

• Serve Others – Philippians 2

Jesus came to this world fully knowing He would serve others.

“We ought to care more for souls than for our comfort.”

Fear doesn’t come from God—fear comes from ourselves.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear…” – 2 Timothy 1:7

The best way to serve others is by sharing Jesus.

Matthew 28:19–20

We need to be discipling new converts.
Pick someone younger to invest in here at our church.

Let’s be a witness for Christ.

In review:

1 John is the " know so" book of Salvation. 1 John 5:12. God wants us to have assurance of Salvation.

The Wrod of God examines our faith and tests out faith. It is not enough to just be sincere.

True faith desires walks in light.

True faith desires to obey the Lord.

True faith loves the brethren.

True faith rejects the world. (James 4:4)

True faith walks in TRUTH-1 John 2:18

2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 Many will be deceived by antichrist.

"Truth and deception cannot live together."

VS.18- There are many false teachers

True faith is a SECURE FAITH - 1 John 2:25

"Your anchor should be in the Lord Jesus Christ and in Him alone."

A truly saved person CANNOT lose their salvation.

True faith is a SPIRIT ANOINTED FAITH- 1 John 2:20,27

This is the gift of the Holy Spirit of God. This new spiritual birth comes at the moment of salvation.

Ephesians 1:12; John 14:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19

God's spirit teaches His children and it always complies with the Word of God. John 14:26

God's spirit also convicts us. God's spirit guides us to the Will, purpose and direction of God.

Ephesians 4:22-30 When we greive God' spirit, we lose the joy of our salvation.

1 John 3:24; 1 John 5:10-13; Romans 8:14-16

True faith is a STEADFAST FAITH - 1 John 2:19

The false will reveal the truth. 1 John 2:24; 2 Timothy 2:15-20; 2 Timothy 3:1-10; 2 Timothy 4:1-4

1 John 2:27-It can be difficult to see the difference between the truth and the false.

True faith is a SOLID FAITH-1 John 2 :20; 4:1

The Christ of the Bible is Christ manifested in the flesh.

1. The proving of Abraham

God will put all of us to the test.

-> There is a cost to discipleship Luke 24:26

There will be a test of love

There will be a test of faith

Hebrews 11:17-19 Abraham believed according to the promises of God

Genesis 22:5 Abraham obeyed the call of God.

There will be a test of obedience (Even when it doesn't make sense.)

Notice the place: Abraham had to go the RIGHT place. Vs. 9.

The place: 2 Chronicles 3:1. This would be the place would the future temple where God would dwell.

This would foreshadow God's work. This is a picture of greater sacrifice. This is also not that far from Mt. Golgotha.

Absolute obedience is important to God.

The picture: The cross of Calvary. Vs. 2. This is the first use of the word "love" on the Bible- the love of a father and a son.

Matthew 3:17- This is the first use of the word "love" in the new testament- also a love between a Father and a Son.

Mark 1:11; Luke 3:22; John 3:16; 1 John 4:8-21

Notice: Issac is a type of God the Son. -> He willingly obedient- even if it meant death.

Issac is a type of a delivered sinner.

Jesus took our place- We was our substitute.

The provision: Genesis 22:7

God will provide himself a lamb!

Genesis 22:15-18 God CANNOT break a promise and He has the power to fulfill his own word.

You will never out give God.

Jesus Christ is the source of all our blessing.

God will bless our obedience.

Application:

a. We are called to obey

b. We are called to witness

c. We are to surrender
