Injustice should break our hearts and fill our eyes with tears. Our nation cannot stay the same. We must be a better people. Will you let Jesus lead you to love your neighbor?

Today we look at "grace" which is unmerited favor and forgiveness. God is grace and he has given grace, himself, to us. 2 Corinthians 1:20 tells us this, "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. God's grace through Jesus, turns our deserved "no" into "yes." Have you received God's grace? Today we look at a story of the disciples struggling in a storm on the sea of Galilee. Jesus is asleep in the boat and the disciples despair over their situation. This struggle in the storm revealed the faith of the disciples, they had placed faith in the boat and their abilities not in Jesus the Son of God. Have we truly put our faith in Jesus or have we put our faith somewhere else?

Today our Bible text rotates around three Characters; Jesus, Simon the Pharisee and an unnamed woman. We are being asked a question. Are we like the pharisee, unaware of our need for Jesus or are we like this unnamed woman, unashamedly aware of the forgiveness Jesus offers to us and deeply thankful for it? I suggest most of us are less like the unnamed woman and more like the Simon the pharisee than we would like to admit. Phariseeism is alive and well today, do not fall into it, instead respond to Jesus with courage, humility and gratitude.

Sometimes the stories of the Bible hit closer to home than we want them too. Today We look at a text that deals with grief and loss. Jesus answers this grief with compassion and restoration of life. For those of you who are struggling with grief I want to challenge you not to relive your grief during this sermon but to ask the Lord to do a new work in you today. I believe all of us are grieving right now, the pandemic has changed so much for so many of us. In this moment we might try many avenues to restore ourselves, but true restoration only comes through Jesus. Let Jesus bring restoration in your life.

Walk Like a Centurion, Luke 7:1-10. We are living in times where everyone's character is being tested and we find more than ever that character matters. The centurion in Luke 7 shows us how to live and walk with godly character. His character is shaped by his understanding of authority, his humility and his faith.

Jesus returns to his home town and shares the truth of who he is as messiah with them. How we receive truth and how we use truth is critically important. Used well it can lead to life, used as a weapon it becomes a destructive force.
