There's something that bothers everyone. We have minor irritations like
slow drivers, whining, or people who chew with their mouth open, and
there are plenty of people who will blow these small issues out of
proportion as if the world could end because of them. Yet, there are
major issues in the world like war, poverty, and human suffering and
these too can become objects of people's anger. If we aren't careful,
we can just begin to live angry lives as we move from one cause to
another, why we stand against it, and what must be done about it. As
if we already don't know this, James 1:20 reminds us that an angry life
cannot live in a way which pleases God. Harboring bitterness, having a
spirit of retaliation, or justifying some personal fight will always
stand in the way of the desire and the ability to please God with your
living. Anger can poison all we do, and it can poison what the church
does, but the church doesn't need to become angry. Anger seems to be at
all time highs today, but the course of a life can be changed when the
Way is found and pursued.
