This evening we discuss a brilliant and creative insight I heard from my friend, Benji Friedman, on why Yosef chose exactly the moment he chose to reveal himself to his brothers. We explore how Yosef uses the process of reframing in choosing how to see the experiences in his life (positive and negative), thus choosing how he, and his brothers, will be able to overcome the trauma they experienced. And we analyze the connection between God assuring Yaakov not to be afraid to go down to Egypt, though this meant the start a long and bitter exile, which is, according to the Zohar, the secret of Shma Yisroel.
