Mamo was born in Taiwan, raised in New Zealand, and currently living in Japan. As a child, he witnessed the slaughter of animals firsthand and was so overcome with sadness, and decided to never eat anything that involves the slaughtering of animals again. He follows a fitness/bodybuilding lifestyle, still learning day by day how to balance this with plant-based nutrition. He says about himself: "Not a typical Asian, not a conventional gay man, not a broccoli and chicken gym bro, not a "vegan"."
