Dr. Kerl is pleased to welcome to Dr. Kristin MacDonald as they chat about her role as a Clinical Cardiologist at the VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County, CA. 
Dr. MacDonald has served as section editor for Handbook of Small Animal Practice, published a multitude of original research papers, and is coauthor of The Textbook of Feline Cardiology, the only text of its kind available. Dr. MacDonald has also participated in clinical trials involving treatment of canine congestive heart failure, and enjoys being the lecturer for the VCA Cardiology Series in the United States.

On this episode, Dr. Kerl welcomes veterinary medicine student Ashley Lavender. Ashley’s interest in veterinary medicine was sparked at a young age through her parents, Dr. Patti Lavender and Dr. Todd Lavender, president, VCA Animal Hospitals. Ashley immersed herself in the world of animals while growing up, through volunteering with rescue groups and working at veterinary clinics. She has gained valuable experience at various small animal general practices as well as a zoological medicine department. Through these experiences, her interest and dedication to the veterinary field have grown.

In addition to leading those two hospitals, Dr. Kizzy has assumed the role of Lead Area Medical Director for IdeaPark, part of VCA's Innovation Group.
