The End of the World as an Activism Opportunity: How to reach carnists that don't care about animals.  

Climate scientists are saying we have just 12 years to take massive action or climate catasrophe will wipe us out. So, in this episode we’ll be asking the question: is veganism more extreme than the end of the world? Many carnists seem to think so. 

All signs point to a vegan lifestyle as the only way to stop inevitable disaster. So, why the hell is that not enough for people? Are they really willing to let their children die over a bacon butty? What can we do, as animal activists, to draw attention to this crisis and make more vegans? How can we piggy back on the environmental movement to reach more people?

Lancashire lad, David, proves that dreams really do come true. He called and pestered us enough that Catherine finally let him on the show. He also happens to have a ton of knowledge on vegan health. David and Catherine will take a look at the lies and deception used by animal ag to promote animal flesh and secretions as health products. In this episode Justin Beanz and Catherine Kelaherb finally do that film review they've been going on about. It's the doco that started it all for Catherine back in 2010 and Justin has an interesting take on it too. Perhaps the most underrated animal rights doco in history; Peaceable Kingdom. Yes the vibe is 90s af but we look at whether it still has a lot of potential to use in today's activism and think it may be the key to convincing some of our pesky carnist family members to make the change.

Since the film uses a lot of sanctuary footage, it gives us a chance to chat about the role of rescue and sanctuaries in activism and the transformation of several people in the film from carnist scum farmer to vegan/potential extra husband for Kelaherb.

With the global population growing at a rate of 228,000 extra people a day, should we feel happy or sad when a non-vegan brings a new carnist into the world? Can a vegan, knowing what we know, bring a child into a world of suffering in good conscience?

Could the the earth benefit from us creating lots of little vegans? Or should we be aiming for castration of the nation?

On the 12th day of xmas the vegans gave to me… this 12th Vegan Beanz episode. And guess what?... The elusive Justin Beanz is finally back and full of Christmas cheer.  Kelaherb and Beanz have truly embraced the silly part of 'silly season' and will bring you a (ridiculous in places) festive wrap up of notable and positive vegan activism that happened in 2018. From disruptions and liberations to amazing food tech advances and a film to change the world, we’ll talk about what went down and what we can learn from it.

Hanging around in the background is a very special guest with the biggest "Patreon" in town. He'll drop in every now and again to drop some wisdom. Hang around until the end of the episode to hear a heart felt confession.
