Why is it that Christmas is the only birthday we celebrate in which the one we are celebrating is seen for who He was, and not for who He is? When we celebrate the birthday of someone dear to us, we don’t think of them in a sleep sack, their chubby cheeks and fixate on their baby pictures. We celebrate them for who they are. Yes, Jesus was born in a manger, but He has outgrown his swaddling clothes, left behind His grave clothes, and now wears a robe dipped in blood earned by His victory over sin and death. We need to ditch thinking of Jesus in His sleep sack and celebrate Him as a coming King! He is the Lion of Judah with fire in His eyes, a sword coming out of His mouth, and tattooed on His thigh “King of kings and Lord of lords.”

If you have ever traveled to a foreign land, you know the feeling of being unsettled. Life can often feel the same way; unsettled, lonely and confusing with moments of wondering what the purpose of it all is. The Bible says that we are strangers and exiles on earth, merely wanderers in search of a homeland. What if the reason we feel unsettled on earth is because we are wired for heaven? As long as we are pilgrims on this earth, we will never find the home that we have been created to wait for. How does a full view of heaven change our perspective of our time on this earth?

God promised to give them a son in their old age, but they struggled to trust that He would and took matters into their own hands. Abraham’s faith was fueled by the hope of heaven, is yours? At the age of 75, by faith, Abraham went to a land he did not know, and left the comfort of home to live in tents among a people that were not his own. The motivation for his obedience was Heaven. Is your hope of heaven strong enough to strengthen your soul to go where God asks you to go, even when you don’t know where you are going? How can our hope for ONE day become the driver for all our days? How does our yearning for heaven change the way we live BY FAITH on earth?

What if, like Noah, your household and future generations were dependent on you living by faith. Would they survive? Living by faith is not having all the answers, but trusting the One who does.

Living ‘By Faith’ requires a heart that is totally committed to walking with God. What if walking with God, and living by faith, had less to do with outcome and more to do with faithfulness in the mundane? Abel brought his first and best and Enoch simply walked with God. These acts of faith were enough to induct these men into the Hall of Faith. God said, Enoch walked with Him and then he was not. Could the same be said of you?

What is the key to living a life of audacious faith? So often, faith is regarded as a work that we do for God rather than a response to who we know God to be. What if faith had less to do with your strength, and more to do with a response to God’s strength? At its core, true faith is a response and not a deed. Do you want to live a life of bold faith? The Theology of Firstfruits is seen all throughout the Bible. This is the idea that we bring our first and best to God because He gave His first and best to us in Jesus. Bringing to Him the first and best of our time and money is a heart and Lordship issue. When Jesus becomes the Lord of our life, we are to fight against the desire to cling and hold on to what is rightfully His. What does it look like to give God your YES to what He has commanded? Where is your belief not lining up with your practice? For it is our practice that proves our belief.
