Today on Vermont Viewpoint, Gust Host Guy Page covers a whole host of topics. First up, Kevin Ellis talking about his blog post of being a liberal who now likes the FBI. Next up, Brad Broyles who talks about the Burlington Public Safety Summit he’s hosting this coming Friday. At the summit, you can hear from key participants such as Christina Nolan. Beginning the second half of the show, Guy talks with Cindy Tabor from Care Net of Central Vermont about the services they offer, and her response to criticism from the pro-choice community. And wrapping up the show is Maggie Kerrin, the VT Coordinate for NEASE. NEASE is a group opposing legal prostitution. She’s been on the ground in Burlington and Montpelier.

We’ll open the show learning about the efforts to repair the dam at Curtis Pond in Calais. Next, we head to the islands for a preview of the International Washers Tournament being held this weekend. And then we swing by Camp Johnson for a visit to the Vermont National Guard Library and Museum. Kicking off the second half of the show, we hear from national correspondent Bob Ney. Then we learn about the military career of Private Alwin Hathaway of Hinesburg, who had been missing in action since 1944. And we finish with a farewell.

Rev. Mark Hughes of the Vermont Racial Justice Alliance joins us to discuss the recently celebrated 4th Annual Vermont First African Landing Day. Next, WDEV forecaster Roger Hill looks ahead to what Vermont’s weather could look like this coming winter season. After that, Stephen Mease shares stories from his new book on the Champlain Valley Fair. And we finish the morning at Hildene in Manchester chomping on some cheese! 

We open the show by taking aim at the latest production by Lost Nation Theater —   “Both Eyes Open: The Annie Oakley Story.” Next, we’re going to meet one more WDEV All-Star—Zeb Norris—and hear about the latest news from our sister station, WCVT, Classic Hits Vermont. Beginning the second half of the show, we chat with Trav Travers, one of the architects who worked on Dimetrodon on Prickly Mountain. We’ll also learn about the other things he created in his career. And we finish with UVM economics professor Richard Sicotte to understand more about gas prices, inflation and whether we’re headed for a recession.  

We get the week started paleontologically. Dinoman Bob Lisaius [luh SIGH is] discusses how he gets kids excited about dinosaurs, space and scientists. Next, we open the phones and hear about those incredibly dangerous (and fun) toys you had as kids. After that, WDEV’s Digital and Marketing Media Consultant Nathan Wright discusses how he works with Radio Vermont clients to expand their reach. And we finish the morning with Randolph artist Jim Sardonis, the creator of the state’s two sets of Whales Tails and other outstanding sculptures.  

We begin the show learning about the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation’s (VSAC) grants and loan program for students in the career and technical education fields. We’ll then open up those phones, before national correspondent Bob Ney joins us. Next, Courtney Lamdin of Seven Days discusses how VTrans proposes to replace a major artery in Chittenden County – the bridge that connects Winooski and Burlington. And we finish the morning in West Danville at the Molly Brook Farm, which was recently named as Vermont’s Dairy Farm of the Year by UVM Extension. 

We take the show on the road again this morning, this time from the Madsonian Museum of Industrial Design in Waitsfield. We’ll spend the morning discussing how towns can be planned and designed to meet the influx of people moving to the state for jobs and to enjoy the lifestyle afforded by Vermont. And we’ll explore what residences might look like as the state tries to improve our housing stock. The show opens with Dave Sellers, the father of the design/build movement. Then Amy Tomasso of the Mad River Valley Planning District joins the discussion. And we’ll finish with architect Bill Maclay, who wrote the book on Net Zero Buildings. 

Sarah Stewart Taylor’s third book in the Maggie D’arcy series is out. We’ll open the show discussing Vermont author’s new book, “The Drowning Sea.” Next, the phones open up until 10. Then we’ll meet Switchback Brewing founder Bill Cherry. And we’ll finish the show in Brattleboro exploring the beautiful pottery designs of Laura Zindel
