In this series Chris has talked about those challenges we face whilst in the ‘land between’. God’s blessings to us in this place include provision, protection and presence, but there is a greater blessing that God is working into our lives, and that is uniting us as ‘a people’, His people.

As we walk further into Phase 2 of our Growing Family, we discover that 'the land between' is in fact a fertile land, full of God's provision, protection and God's presence.

We continue our Apostle talk series with, arguably the most famous of Jesus’ twelve disciples, Judas Iscariot. In this talk we look at how Judas’ expectation of Jesus’ purpose was in conflict with reality. Jesus’ intention and plan to bring the Kingdom of God into the world contrasted fundamentally with what Judas imagined it to be. As a result Judas attempted to control Jesus, which soon took a dark turn. Through Judas’ story, Richard challenges us to consider whether we currently have our own expectations of how God will and ‘should’ behave; and if we do, whether we are willing to let these go, trust in Jesus’ plans and follow him.

The apostle Paul was a man who, through faith and perseverance, learned to trust in God’s words and promises rather than the limited depths of his own understanding and reasoning. He was a great example of how we can be calm in the midst of a storm. So whatever storms we face – whether as individuals or as the community of God’s people – we can like Paul, experience peace in the middle of turmoil as we put our trust in God.

Jesus calls us to take risks and launch into the beautiful deep where our feet don't touch the ground! This is an exciting place to be - but also renders totally dependent on him. Our guest speaker this month, Simon Fordham, poses the question: are you willing to go deeper than you've ever been before?

This week Chris Lane look at the apostle John, who in his own gospel commonly refers to himself as 'the beloved disciple'. We learn a bit more about John and his relationship with Jesus as well as the other disciples. As we do, we begin to understand that John's desire to follow Jesus was free from ulterior or ambiguous motives; and this experienced freedom impacted his capacity to believe and receive Jesus’ love and acceptance.
