Let's stay focused on what God is doing rather than what's going on around us or where we fall short. Many people think that the most ineffective people are the ones with "no talent," but in reality it's those who lack focus on what matters most. Will we lay our lives down for God to build something, or will we just focus on ourselves? What do we care most about and what are we most focused on? The past couple weeks, we have talked about how we must have self-denial in our faith walk with Jesus-- and that includes our thoughts and focus. This Sunday we discuss focusing on what God has done and what He is building, rather than what we don't know and where we fall short.

In Nehemiah 2, Nehemiah had faced great opposition, but he trusted that God's hand was upon him and focused on what God had called him to do-- to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. This week, we discuss how to focus on God and His hand.

Who will get low and be humble? God desires to move, but He calls us to be humble before Him. One of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control (or self-discipline). God has given us not a spirit of fear, but one of self-discipline. 

Maturity is not built in a moment, and we will face opposition. The Bible says that person without self-control is like a city with broken down walls, but we are called to be a city built on a firm foundation. 

This week we walk through 3 things we are called to do to keep a Kingdom-focus, staying humble and leaning on the Lord's strength.

“He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free” (Luke 4:18)💚 //That's the heart of Jesus and the heart of our message this week. Jesus didn’t come so that we would be somewhat spiritually free. He came to set us completely free. Does it feel like brokenness or oppression has become part of you? Jesus proclaims Good News. You don’t have to fight on your own this week, in your own strength. Let’s be strong in the Lord’s mighty power. (Eph. 6:10)  //The Bible teaches us to put on the full armor of God so we can fight: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the readiness of the gospel of peace for your feet, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

This week, Pastor Phil dives into what God calls men and women to Biblically. Let’s operate in the ways the Lord intended, in our God-given callings. Let’s glorify the Lord in all that we do, not ourself. Lord, help us to walk in these callings spiritually.
