Can We Depend on Our Talent?

This week Pastor Phil leads us in a sermon on the anointing on David from the Holy Spirit and how that was more valuable than any talent. This week and in our entire lives, let’s value the power of the Holy Spirit over our talents themselves. But let's also not disregard that the Lord gives us talents that He can work through with His Holy Spirit. Tell the Lord you need Him, and trust that He is working in the “insignificant” days. Pastor Phil dives into scripture and ways we can put this into practice. Let's learn together today!

Are we picking and choosing parts of the Bible and trying to make it submit to us and what we want? Are we picking and choosing on our calling, and submitting the rest to fear and false humility? Lord, help us submit to You, trusting that You know best and You’re in charge!

Has God given you a calling that you have submitted to fear? Here is your reminder that fear and insecurity are not healthy humility. Healthy humility allows us to believe in what God is doing in us (and through other people), and to be grateful for it! It’s time we walk in our callings, friends. Healthy humility charts the course for the identity in Christ we walk in. We're called to walk in healthy identity and to tell others about the healthy identity the Lord has for them too.

Three Kings Series, a series on the lives of David, Saul, and Absalom-- how they viewed humility and how their heart posture before the Lord shaped their leadership." In 1 Samuel 8, the Israelites were begging for an earthly king because all of the nations around them had one. They wanted to be like the world around them, and even though the Lord warned against it, they thought they knew what was best for them. They saw not too long after this that they definitely didn't know what was best. Pastor Phil encourages us to reflect on areas of our lives where we can be more teachable, not thinking too highly of ourselves, valuing others and serving others, and loving the Lord more than ourselves.

Men and women, we have value because God created us, so this week Pastor Phil leads us in a message on how to live the way He designed and called us to. He talks about marriage and how to operate in a Biblical dynamic.
We serve the Living God, and He is moving speaking and leading us today, men and women.

God gives us freedom, but do we fully operate in that freedom? As believers we are free people, but our hearts are often in chains of negative thought patterns that are not from the Lord. This week, Pastor Greg Haswell encouraged us to actively choose freedom in our minds. He led us in a very practical prayer pattern we often neglect... the layout of a Psalm.

This week, talk to God like in the Psalms:
1. Describe to Him what’s going on in your life (He already knows, but he wants us to talk to Him about it)
2. Ascribe to God who He is. Declare Truth about Him from His Word.
3. Prescribe what you are asking of Him. Call on Him for help.

Through Christ, we are learning to be content in Jesus in all circumstances. This week, we talk about how helpful it is when we listen to healthy sources, run from comparison, and remember that some things will take time. Pastor Phil leads us in wrapping up our sermon series on the Book of Philippians and shows us what Paul says about contentment in all situations.

We have so many thoughts throughout the day, and some of them aren't the best, right? But the Bible teaches us of ways to think like Christ, through what thoughts to dwell on and what thoughts not to, through contentment in Christ, how to intercede for others, and so on. Pastor Phil dives into this topic and shows us how the Bible gives us wisdom and insight.

The Bible tells us that Paul wanted us to know Christ and experience His power. Lord, help us to live for You and not live in our past. With You there is fullness, purpose, and joy! Amen.

This week we talk about practical ways we can be spending time seeking to live like Jesus. Pastor Phil walks us through leaning into not giving up with the Lord when life gets difficult, staying mature in times of difficulty, and how to stay consistent with Christ.
