On this episode, we dive into a topic first popularized by the Super Marcato Bros, Karl and Will Bruegeman, on their own VGM podcast: a compositional technique called the Five-Finger Fanfare. Also included in the show is a clip from their 201st episode, which aired on January 31st, 2016.

This was an exciting and challenging episode to put together, and the track list is the result of many months of making mental notes each time we'd come across this sound in the wild. On June 20th, 2020, an era came to an end. After 200 episodes, the Power Pros podcast closed its doors…at least for the time being.

However, on their next-to-last episode, the Pros did something I’d been bugging host “The Hoff” Chris Hoffman to do for months: an episode dedicated to 10 of each of their favorite video game soundtracks.

I was so impressed with the Pros’ picks and the heartfelt way they discussed each game that I just had to build our second bonus episode around those very same games. And you, gamers, are in for a treat.
